The cosmetics were marketed as "high-end quality meets drugstore prices".They expanded quickly and in 2014 Ko sold the company to L'Oreal. Brick and mortar NYX stores were introduced in 2016. NYX cosmetics are available worldwide, and they remain headquarted in Los Angeles, CA. (Source: Wikipedia)

Brows -NYX -Micro Brow Pencil

This is the best eye brow pencil I have tried! Gets a clean precise line, good on its own or brushed out for a more natural look. Love the double sided ends with brush attached. Stays on a long time. Great quality for drug store price! Highly recommend!

Liquid -NYX -Professional Makeup Total Control Drop Foundation

This foundation has me SO confused. I'm quote torn about it. But in sum,
- buildable, medium-full coverage
- works with both a sponge and brush
- good size for travel
- doesn't break down with my oily skin, stays put on my face a whole day out (~12 hours)
- great shade range, i usually have trouble finding foundations that match my fair yellow-undertone skin.
- very expensive for how small it is
- glass bottle (bougie for drugstore but i'm clumsy)
- you cannot layer ANY cream product over this, even before you set it with powder. You will not for the life of you be able to cream contour/ highlight or use cream blush with this foundation because for whatever reason it will come right off. I can't even use most of my concealers on top of it, when i use this foundation i have to conceal before. Like it sort of sets into this film over your face, and any cream broduct breaks it down in those areas and makes your complexion look patchy.

I still use this because it was quite costly for nyx and i don't want to throw it out, and it's not horrible, i just wouldn't repurchase it. I have to be very methodical about what products i want to use with it because it doesn't seem to agree with many. A bit too much of a hassle considering it's not the best thing that's ever been on my face (no innuendo).

Highlighters -NYX -Professional Makeup Strobe of Genius Illuminating Palette

on 1/21/2018 5:29:00 AM

To me this is a very average highligher palette, I don't understand why almost everyone seems to give it glowing reviews. It's not bad by any means, just not as great as i expected it to be from reading and watching tonnes of other reviews. When i use a regular highlighting brush to apply this i feel like it doesn't pick up much of the undertone of each colour (which was disappointing because part of the reason i bought this palette was because i liked its colour range) and only deposits the shimmery particles on my face, which makes it look a bit like glittery eyeshadow fallout and not like i applied highlighter. I also find the formula to be quite dry and powdery, which makes it hard to layer without looking chalky. Because of its texture, i also find it doesn't melt nicely into my base makeup and just sits on top of the skin. Not a horrible palette but there are definitely better drugstore highliters, like the elf baked highliters for example. Would not repurchase and will probably just give it away to a friend.

Lipstick -NYX -Matte Lipstick - MLS08 Pure Red

on 1/20/2018 4:11:00 PM

I have a problem with most of my red lippies turning some sort of pinkish red considering my NC44 Mac SFF/Clinique Stay 20 Matte Deep Neutral skin and slightly rosy lippies. I want a true red on me and I was told that as I am warm toned I should go for orange-red lippies.

Nyx Pure Red is described exactly like this so I bought it to give a try at such a color. Man! I am glady I did. It turns truly red on me. No more pinkish!

Great color pay off and soft texture.

It has some things I don't like though. It is a somewhat bright satin instead of really matte, although Nyx sells it like this. It accumulates in the folds of my lips, giving them a uneven appearance. I believe it needs a lip pencil as it bleeds. The package is a little fragile and feels like there is something unattached inside it, contrary to Milani, which is another brand I own a red lippie.

All in all, if you are not that into matte and want a true red I recommend it.

PS: Now I am going to try other orange-red lippies for sure.

Lip Gloss -NYX -Professional Makeup Strictly Vinyl Lip Gloss

I purchased this at Ulta in the deep red color, “bad girl”... the color is brilliant and the shine a texture is perfect! I have noticed that if you do not prep your lips well enough the color will travel. Which is common for highly pigmented red lipglosses. Eager to try the other shades as well.
