Highlighters -NARS -Hot Sand Highlighting Blush

on 11/23/2017 4:23:00 PM

This is a review is for the pressed powder version, which they call a highlight blush. I'm NC 15 and this is definitely a highlighter, not a blush on me. This is one of my all time favorite highlighters. I'm now in my 30's and I love the crazy ones, but I was on a hunt for a more natural grown up highlighter. I tried the crazy pricy YSL invisible powder one and returned it because it was invisible, and I got this instead.
First, I do dislike NARS packaging, just because of the rubber texture. But otherwise, this is normal packaging for NARS. Second the formula. This is a fairly firmly packed traditional powder. It's not glittery and it applies quite smooth. It's not very powdery but there is a little kick up. It's not very glossy but it definitely gives a sheen. This finish is exactly what I was looking for-it shows up but not crazy. For reference, I tried Laura Mercier 01 bronzer that's a highlighter and it didn't show up on me. MAC Lightscapade has been my go to for work. Hot Sand is on the level of Lightscapade for strength of glow, maybe slightly more. The shade is a fleshy peachy shade. It blends in very naturally with my fair to light skin. I don't have anything similar to it. Lightscapade is quite pale and sheer. Makeup Geek Luster is very metallic and more pink. It's the perfect pretty skin highlighter. The only other highlighter that gives a similar effect would be the Essence Pure Nude highlighter. The shades are different, Essence is more beige and gold. But the effect is similar. Those are my two my skin but better highlighters.

Makeup Brushes -NARS -27 - Yachiyo

Owned this brush twice. I don't entirely know what I was thinking either time I purchased it, and I purged it for the same reason twice. I'm not the best with my money.

Just don't bother. I wouldn't wish this brush on anyone. It is VERY SCRATCHY. And you know what? Twice I read reviews about how uncomfortable this brush is to use and bought it anyway thinking "hey, but the application is supposed to be amazing, so who really gives a toss".

I think there was a time when this brush would have been the gold standard for applying ANY blush. Not anymore. The look is unique and awesome... too bad there are cheaper brushes on the market with the same look, so this one doesn't have a leg to stand on as far as aesthetics are concerned.

Just do yourself a favor and get a Chikuhodo or Wayne Goss brush. WG14 is good. So is the Chiku z-4. If you have $50+ for a scratchy mess of a brush, you have the money for a Goss or Chiku, and you will see that this one is nothing special. Not anymore, at least. Mine is permanently retired, and I'll be damned if I ever buy one again.

Blush -NARS -Liquid blush

on 11/18/2017 6:37:00 PM

I think what shocked me the most was the sticker price. 30 dollars for a blush is just way out of my price range. Don't get me wrong the color and pigmentation are pretty but for thirty dollars? I think it's too expensive.

Liquid -NARS -Sheer Glow Foundation

I want to like this foundation so badly. I love how it blends into my skin and does not feel heavy. But it broke me out everytime I wear it! I do not experience this even with drugstore brands.. this is really disappointing.
