Concealers -NARS -Radiant Creamy Concealer

I have bought this concealer twice and it last me a very long time. I would say that the concealer is great for a brightening affect on me. I have very dark circle, their hereditary for the women in my family. Although I love the Nars concealer it might not be strong enough for the circles I have in my face but I do mix it to get a brightening affect and wear it alone on "natural" make up days.

Liquid -NARS -Sheer Glow Foundation

on 6/20/2018 3:51:00 PM

I recently had a makeover with a Sephora artist where she matched me up with this foundation. It looked pretty good in the store so I purchased a bottle. As I got to the car and settled into my seat I checked out my makeup in the mirror and saw that my face had melted and settled into my pores. This was not a good start to our relationship.

I didn't get discouraged at first; I figured it wasn't compatible with the primer, went home and washed my face and redid my makeup and it looked ok. I do find the tint is too pale for me, even if my neck is pale I disagree with foundation completely matching with my neck (hello 90's look) but that's not the foundation's problem that's on the makeup chick.

The foundation is easy to apply with my brush, at first it looks nice although too dewy for my taste but after a few hours it just disappears. After some experimentation I found out what makes it melt off and settle into tiny dots all over my face - it's not at all compatible with any kind of makeup setting spray. I tried several with the same humiliating result. Yes, I wait enough time between my layers.

Really, there is nothing to like about this foundation and it just sits on my vanity unused. They can't even be bothered to include a pump with the bottle, at the price they're selling it Nars should be ashamed of themselves. I much prefer my Bobbi Brown foundation over this stuff and would never buy Nars sheer Glow again.

Eye Shadow -NARS -Kalahari Duo

on 6/19/2018 10:08:00 PM

I recently bought the Nars eyeshadow duo in the shade Isolde. I have now owned this product for about 3 months. The colors are pigmented and beautiful. The shades included are lovely bronze and gold color and they work well as just over the eyelid. The shades are also very true to those shown in the photos. The eyeshadows are also well pigmented and do not require very much product to receive a nice effect and they are also very easy to blend. Also due to the fact they are so pigmented the eyeshadow can be added lightly for a shimmery everyday look. Or you can build it up and pack on the product for a more sultry, night out look. What I also found to be very convenient was that this product also includes a mirror. Having the mirror makes it easy to stick in your purse for touchups and also makes it nice to travel with since it is small and compact. But there are also some drawbacks. One is that since I have very oily eyelids it makes it more difficult for my eyeshadow to last, which means by the end of the day my eyeshadow can crease, smear, and well, just look terrible. So I recommend that if you have oily eyelids like I do, and plan on wearing your eyeshadow all day you should apply eyeshadow primer before putting on your eyeshadow. The primer that I use and really enjoy is the urban decay eyeshadow primer potion in the original color. I find that these products work very well together. Another drawback is that this eyeshadow duo is pretty pricey for someone on a budget. Especially since it only includes two eyeshadow shades for the price of $35 while you could get the urban decay eyeshadow palette which have great eyeshadows that work just as well for the price of $54 but it includes 12 different eyeshadow colors which are all very beautiful, blendable, and work just as well as the Nars duo.

Lipstick -NARS -Afghan Red

I got this rec when I posted on the Makeup Board asking for wearable red suggestions. I read reviews of this one and when I swiped it at Sephora, it didn’t look red to me! But then I tried on some traditional reds and they just looked hideous on me. Back to this one and tried on....beautiful. Per other reviews, this isn’t like any other color I’ve seen and wears much more red than you might think when you see it in the tube. A gorgeous color that I intend to keep around to give myself a little perk for work when I want to be a little more finished. I know with a balm and light application this can just as easily be a light, casual color. Try it!

Foundations -NARS -Natural Radiant Longwear Foundation

This is a truly full coverage foundation which, in spite of endless claims by cosmetics companies, is actually quite rare. It actually looks decent while doing it, too, which is even rarer. So that's where the 4 stars come from.

However. It never sets. Ever. Powder, spray, nope. It will pretend to set--for an hour. Even the Sephora girls were like "No, it never sets." And that's big for them, because they usually think powder solves everything. It also doesn't look better as the day goes on, just greasier--and I have uber-dry skin.

I wish they had tweaked this more--it has potential, and I would continue to fuss with it, but I am allergic. Sigh... FYI, it seems very similar to Clinique Beyond Perfecting in coverage, texture, and (nonexistent) staying power. The finish is better with Nars, though.
