The Maybelline Company was created by a 19-year-old entrepreneur named Tom Lyle Williams in 1915. Williams noticed his older sister Mabel applying a mixture of Vaseline and coal dust to her eyelashes to give them a darker, fuller look. He adapted it with a chemistry set and produced a product sold locally called lash-in-brow-line. Williams renamed his eye beautifier Maybelline, in honor of his sister Mabel, who gave him the idea. In 1917 the company produced Maybelline Cake Mascara, ""the first modern eye cosmetic for everyday use"" and Ultra Lash in the 1960s, which was the first mass-market automatic

Mascara -Maybelline - Volum' Express The Falsies

on 10/18/2017 12:42:00 PM

I was on vacation and in desperate need of mascara. Only 1 shop in town and no acess to reviews, so I just took a chance and grabbed this. Ugh, it's so clumpy. When I got back home I even tried it under mascara primer and it still clumped. It makes my eyelashes look bumpy and spikey, really not a good look. I also felt the color was not a saturated lush black which I would prefer. Can a mascara be dingy? I liked the shape of the brush and that's about it. Oh, I forgot to mention, there is no way to apply another coat. It becomes very dry and set quickly, it's discouraging.

Liquid -Maybelline - FIT Me Foundation (Matte + Poreless)

on 10/18/2017 11:09:00 AM

This is a really lovely foundation.
I was hesitant to try at first as i had never had luck with Maybelline foundations.
This however has really nice coverage (I use a damp beauty blender) that wears evenly and well through the day (survived a busy 35 degree celsius work day today). I pair it with the NYX Shine Killer primer.
It offers medium coverage and is buildable if you need to.
The only flaw is there’s no pump (at least in Australia anyway) but for how cheap this foundation is I can get past that.
I didn’t find that it clung to any dry patches and isn’t broken down easily by facial oils (a quick blot will leave it looking as good as new!)

Mascara -Maybelline - Great Lash Lots of Lashes

This mascara is INCREDIBLE. I remember having used a tube up before and recently opened a new one up that had been sitting unopened for ages. The brush pulls everything single lash up and out, it keeps my lashes curled all day and I don't use a lash curler on them. I was so impressed to come home after a 12 hour day and see that my lashes looked perfect. I don't feel like I have to layer it, it just gives me a nice, separated look that's not too dramatic. I find that I like voluminous lashes but they droop by the end of the day, these mascara doesn't do that, the formula is so light. You can't go wrong for the price either. I hated the original great lash but this one is a gift.

Palettes -Maybelline - The Nudes

on 10/17/2017 11:15:00 PM

I was excited to try this palette. Considering its nude colors selection and the price tag, they were Perfect!
I used this palette for over a year, and during that time I also purchased WnW's Comfort Zone palette.

I thought I was going to love it, but this palette came as far as a 'meh' for me (especially when I compared it with WnW's Comfort Zone which was almost two times cheaper than The Nudes).

The colors were nice, no objection, and the swatches looked ok. However, when I put them on my eyelid, they were not as pigmented as seen on the swatches on my arm. The colors intensity weren't that great and because of that, they didn't last long on my eyelid. There were a few times when I used The Nude since in the morning, and by around noon my colleagues would asked me if I were wearing eye shadows??! Surprised. I looked myself in the mirror and there was literally almost nothing showed on my eyelid!

Some may argue that this is a drugstore brand and expectation should be kept low, or that I need to 'work' with it more if I want it to work.
Well, hey! WnW's Comfort Zone is almost two times cheaper (like I mentioned above) but it works as good as many high-end palettes (UD's NAKED, for sure). So the understanding (and perhaps, acceptance) of drugstore products mean mediocrity is not true here. When I had already tried other cheaper drugstore palette like WnW and found out that it was much better than The Nude.

I still kept The Nude, but to be honest, I never reached for it. I might used for it when I need light makeup...or when I feel like using it....I 'might'.

Pressed Powders -Maybelline - SuperStay Better Skin Skin-Transforming Powder

on 10/17/2017 9:53:00 PM

I really like this powder, which can be used as a light coverage standalone powder foundation, but is sheer enough to also be used as a setting/touch-up powder. Most days I brush this on to set my Revlon Photoready foundation, and it looks so smooth and skinlike, yet holds back shine well. On days I want very light coverage, I will just apply this over my SPF moisturizer ,using the included sponge, and it makes me look more polished. I have the lightest shade "Porcelain 10" and it's a great color match for my pale, neutral skintone. The compact is kind of big and I don't like the rectangular shape, but I like that it comes with a mirror and applicator. It does not break me out, and I am breakout prone. Price is kinda high ($10) for a drugstore powder, but it's good quality, so I'd repurchase!
