The Maybelline Company was created by a 19-year-old entrepreneur named Tom Lyle Williams in 1915. Williams noticed his older sister Mabel applying a mixture of Vaseline and coal dust to her eyelashes to give them a darker, fuller look. He adapted it with a chemistry set and produced a product sold locally called lash-in-brow-line. Williams renamed his eye beautifier Maybelline, in honor of his sister Mabel, who gave him the idea. In 1917 the company produced Maybelline Cake Mascara, ""the first modern eye cosmetic for everyday use"" and Ultra Lash in the 1960s, which was the first mass-market automatic

Palettes -Maybelline - The Nudes

on 10/20/2017 11:05:00 AM

This palette is not very pigmented, and the light shimmers have a strange cakeyness to them. It's difficult to build color without it looking splotchy, and it doesn't last very long...even with primer. You can make it work with this palette, but it is certainly fussy.

Mascara -Maybelline - Volum' Express The Falsies Flared

on 10/20/2017 10:56:00 AM

I am on my second tube. I had used the regular Falsies in the past, but decided to try the "Flared" version when I noticed for the same price, you get 9.4ml versus the 7.5ml you get with the regular Falsies mascara. This mascara gives me very similar results to the Maybelline Colossal mascara if you have ever tried that one. This gives a good amount of length and volume in one coat, with no flaking, clumping, or smudging. Although, I prefer the slimmer curved wand on the Falsies Flared, and find it easier to get to the base of lashes. This stuff actually holds up to water pretty well too, despite being non-waterproof, and can take a little more work to remove at night (but not as difficult as a WP mascara). A solid drugstore performer, at a very reasonable price ($6), so I will continue to purchase.

Liquid -Maybelline - Dream Cushion

on 10/19/2017 9:31:00 PM

So far this is working out very well l. The coverage is good -- not settling into my large pores, lasting 9+ hours since application. Finish is in the sweet spot between matte and overly "radiant." Just a little dewiness. Plus, the porcelain shade is a good match. I like a sponge application, and this is a lot faster than messing around with my beauty blender.

Liquid -Maybelline - Dream Liquid Mousse

I have used a lot of drugstore foundations...a LOT, and this is my current favorite. I do try others, but I always come crawling back to this one! I love the finish and feel, because this seems to meld with my skin, and looks so smooth and non-cakey, and really masks my larger pores. Despite the natural finish, it does not make me greasy like other foundations do. For reference, I have combo/oily skin. I wish that this had SPF, because I like to layer up on my sun protection. The pump bottle is really convenient, and the lightest shade "Porcelain Ivory" matches my pale, neutral skintone perfectly. I think it's important to mention what is worn under/over foundations, when reviewing. Having said that, I wear Garnier's Moisture Rescue SPF15 under this, and Covergirl's Professional loose powder to set. The price is pretty reasonable ($8-$9), and I will likely repurchase!
