Maybelline

The Maybelline Company was created by a 19-year-old entrepreneur named Tom Lyle Williams in 1915. Williams noticed his older sister Mabel applying a mixture of Vaseline and coal dust to her eyelashes to give them a darker, fuller look. He adapted it with a chemistry set and produced a product sold locally called lash-in-brow-line. Williams renamed his eye beautifier Maybelline, in honor of his sister Mabel, who gave him the idea. In 1917 the company produced Maybelline Cake Mascara, ""the first modern eye cosmetic for everyday use"" and Ultra Lash in the 1960s, which was the first mass-market automatic

Loose Powders -Maybelline -Master Fix Setting + Perfecting Loose Powder

foto

Maybelline is one of my favorite drugstore brands and so I was excited to test out this product.

The Maybelline Master Fixt Setting+Perfecting Powder is good for an everyday use. I find myself reaching for it on a daily basis. It's affordable and does an incredible job at mattifying and making the skin appear poreless. My crater-like skin looks super smooth with the application of this product.

However, it is not a good setting when taking pictures or for special occasions. It does leave a white sheen across the skin and has terrible flashback in pictures.

I know I said it leaves a white sheen but the white sheen isn't too noticeable. I just won't be wearing this product for pictures ever. I'm definitely repurchasing it when I run out because of the affordability of it and its ability to do its job.

Blush -Maybelline -Face studio blush in dare to pink

Well, I got it from the pound shop, but GOOD LORD what the hell even is this? I couldn’t open it!

When I eventually did manage to prize the lid open (You have to push it with your fingers and the lid pivots round and flips up) it was a very simple pressed powder blush, with lots of pigment in a very hot, almost neon pink. It was pretty cool, for some reason I see it more as a contour than a blush...hot pink contour for everyday? could work!

Anyway, watch me make a fool out of myself trying to get it open here:

Eye Shadow -Maybelline -The City Mini Palette

These are great little palettes. So easy to throw in a purse. Sturdy plastic case. I have bought only three so far. Graffiti Pop, Chill Brunch and Downtown Sunrise. Chill Brunch is my favorite of the three. Taupe shades with a touch of pink and a purple shade I can use as liner! I already ditched Maybelline's Nudes palettes in favor of them. These have more pigment. Each palette have at least one shade of glitter, and easy to avoid if you don't like glitter. They stay on my lids pretty well with primer, but fades fast without. Downtown Sunrise is my second favorite with that orange shade. I don't usually do orange/red shades, but this one is like a clear orange if that makes sense. Not too warm or reddish. And that right upper corner shade is beautiful. A rose gold? Not sure but it is gorgeous! Graffiti Pop has that teal and dark purple colors that I love, too, cause I needed some color in my collection.

Lipstick -Maybelline -Colorsensational lipstick in petal pink

I thought that this lipstick had a slightly greasy consistency...but I have dry lips so I didn’t mind that it was more on the moisturising side... this petal pink shade was too pale for me, and I did add some liquid lip tint over the top to add a bit more dimension to the lips.

I was comparing this in my head to the collection 2000 lipsticks, which always deliver great colour and wearability, and the formula felt similar to the collection 2000 lipsticks.

It was just a bit too pale for me!

Watch me give it a go here:

Concealers -Maybelline -Cover Stick

This stick concealer has opaque coverage, and blends easily. I use this mostly if I get a blemish, and this works great for that purpose. I sometimes use under my eyes, and it works well there too, but I apply lightly so it does not enhance fine lines. Stick concealers are so quick and easy to use, and last longer than liquid concealers, which is why I prefer them. The shade "Fair" has a cooler undertone and blends perfectly with my fair neutral/cool skintone. This gets the job done, and is inexpensive, so I'd repurchase!
