Maybelline

The Maybelline Company was created by a 19-year-old entrepreneur named Tom Lyle Williams in 1915. Williams noticed his older sister Mabel applying a mixture of Vaseline and coal dust to her eyelashes to give them a darker, fuller look. He adapted it with a chemistry set and produced a product sold locally called lash-in-brow-line. Williams renamed his eye beautifier Maybelline, in honor of his sister Mabel, who gave him the idea. In 1917 the company produced Maybelline Cake Mascara, ""the first modern eye cosmetic for everyday use"" and Ultra Lash in the 1960s, which was the first mass-market automatic

Concealers -Maybelline -Concealers - Maybelline - Instant Age Rewind Eraser Dark Circles in Brightener

This is pretty much a drugstore HG for me. I am on my second tube (tube? wand? bottle?) and have stashed another from a BOGO at Ulta. For starters: I don't have extreme under eye darkness, just the usual shadowy ring most mid-30s moms tend to have. Also, I have a fair-light olivey-gold skintone, so salmon/pink tends to work better than yellow when correcting said shadows. I like to set this with light baking using ELF's little $3 miracle: Under Eye Setting Powder. It stays well this way, even on my oily-but-aging skin and gives a beautifully brightened, awake look to my eyes. Totally worth the price and highly recommended! Note: some people think the sponge is unhygienic, but I actually read an entertaining experiment done by a biochem student who tested hers after a couple months of use and the results were less than frightening. I am guessing Maybelline employs antimicrobial tech in their sponges.

Lipstick -Maybelline -Blushing Pout

This is an awesome, different color - almost too different to describe in words, but I'll have a go at it:

Blushing Pout (#682) is a creamy matte mauve. But unlike most mauves, this one is predominantly a light muted purple which I love (most mauves are too brown for me). This is a perfect fall color! Even though it's a purply mauve, it also has pink undertones to it which makes it wearable. This is another one of those universally flattering lipsticks that pretty much anyone can wear.

Mascara -Maybelline -Total Temptation

on 1/17/2018 3:18:00 PM

This was an impulse buy but I'm not thrilled. It's a big brush so it's a bit sloppy to apply, however once applied it seems pretty good. But then the deal breaker sets in: it's too wet and takes forever to dry, lashes start to go limp and the mascara seems to disappear. This is one of those mascaras that looks nice for the first few minutes and then looks like you're hardly wearing mascara by the end of the day. Returning it.

Concealers -Maybelline -Fit Me Concealer

This is an OK concealer. Medium to light coverage, dewy finish, quite natural looking. Nice for a teenage girl or if you just want to skip a foundation or :-/ cream entirely and just polish up some trouble spots. I'd make sure you use a primer, loose setting powder, and maybe even a setting spray with this if you're oily. This is not ideal for massive breakouts or super dark circles. This can take care of redness and small blemishes. This is natural looking and light, good if you don't like wearing a lot of makeup.
