Hair Treatments -Maui Moisture -Heal & Hydrate + Shea Butter Hair Mask

on 4/11/2018 2:27:00 AM

Maui Moisture has become pretty much my favourite hair care line recently, which is saying something because in the last few years I have used only salon brands for the most part. On the occasional time when I have tried to save money by getting a drugstore product, I usually end up disappointed, so I was skeptical about this brand at first. But what sold me was the fact that they use aloe juice as the first ingredient rather than water. I'm so glad I tried these products!!
I have fine, thin, fragile hair that has been bleached to hell recently. I used to use volumizing products because my hair is flat and limp, but since I have incurred so much damage (and find that volume products can be drying), I've been focusing on nursing my hair back to life with nourishing products and Olaplex.
That's where this mask came in. I went through an entire tub very quickly as I was using it with every wash, along with the Coconut Milk shampoo. It makes my hair incredibly soft and shiny. And, interestingly, my hair actually has more body and life to it than when I was using volume products - probably because this stuff is actually improving the health of my hair.
I ran out of this tub and bought the Agave version the other day, which I think I prefer. There's a tiny bit of this left at the bottom of the tub, and I've been using it as a leave-in conditioner. Again, amazed that my hair isn't being weighed down flat with this, but I think it's maybe because my hair is so damaged and desperate for moisture.

Shampoo -Maui Moisture -Smooth & Repair Vanilla Bean Shampoo

on 4/4/2018 1:15:00 PM

I have both the shampoo and conditioner from this range and I love them both.

The shampoo gets my hair clean, but doesn't strip it or leave it dry. The fact that it's sulfate free and the first ingredient is aloe likely helps with this.

The conditioner (which I leave on for five minutes) hydrates my hair without weighing it down. I get far less frizz, and my thin, fine hair is considerably more manageable.

Both the shampoo and conditioner smell AMAZING. The packaging is sturdy and looks nice.

These are around $8 at Target, and they both last me around two months before I need to repurchase. I have longer hair, and I wash it every day as it's rather oily. Seems like good value for money.

Conditioner -Maui Moisture -Heal & Hydrate + Shea Butter Conditioner

on 3/28/2018 1:37:00 PM

I have both the shampoo and conditioner, but I have not been using the shampoo for the time being so I will not post a review on it until I get the chance to try it a few times.

On to the conditioner, it's really, really good. It smells nice, and coats my hair evenly. I try to keep it on as long as possible (anywhere from 15 min to over an hour), and no matter how long it's been on, my hair feels soft and healthy-ish after rinsing. And that's not an easy thing to accomplish, as my hair is heavily bleached and has been ruined by fusion extensions so it's dry and blah.
I actually didn't expect to be so happy with this product, but I feel it does better than my Joico K-Pak Intense Hydrator!

The only thing I dislike is how difficult it is to get out of the bottle, I have to leave the bottle upside down until I use it, and then shake and squeeze lol...too much trouble with wet hands! But for how well it performs, it's not that big of a deal.

Once I get the chance to use the matching shampoo as well, I have a feeling it will perform even better.

So an A+, I like everything about it, price included.

Shampoo -Maui Moisture -Curl Quench + Coconut Oil Shampoo

on 2/17/2018 2:49:00 AM

This may be my own fault as I bought this because of smell (and I don't have curly hair) but it's GREASY. I normally go 2-3 days between washes since my scalp isn't super oily but when I use this I feel I need to rewash 12 hours later. Smells great but it crosses the line between moisturizing and oily for me. Curious to try it as a body wash though.

Conditioner -Maui Moisture -Curl Quench + Coconut Oil Conditioner

on 1/29/2018 3:10:00 PM

This conditioner has a very thick consistency, smells like coconut (as you would expect it to) and does a beautiful job of cleansing / conditioning my thick, long, wavy/curly hair. I rotate between this and the Maui Moisture Heal & Hydrate + Shea Butter line as I love them both equally. They really only vary by two ingredients so not all that different. Great product, silicone-free, highly recommend.
