The first U.S MAC store opened in 1991, in New York. The company's products were initially aimed at professional make-up artists, but are now sold to consumers worldwide. Lipstick -MAC Cosmetics -Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolour

on 10/17/2018 12:23:00 PM

I chose Lady Be Good (similar color to the Spice lip pencil I’d say) and I hated it UNTIL I fixed it. The formula is horrible and the color dries different than it starts out. Weird. I tried all different ways to apply it (putting lip balm on first etc) and no matter what was tried it was horrible. Patchy, drying and didn’t spread well because it’s so thin. Ugh, anyway...I got fed up and decided to make it way better. I first squirted some lipmix satin into the tube THEN added some clear lipglass as well and now it’s a gorgeous moisturizing lip gloss: now it is perfect. I love the way the actual tube looks but way too much product comes out on the wand but seeing as it’s not a doe foot but a pear sort of shape that was probably all part of this particular product. I won’t be buying it again but at least I’m now happy with the one I bought and can use it.

One hour later: EDITED TO ADD: it turns out the retro matte formula does NOT play nice with either lipglass or lipmix satin: it would not blend. It applied perfectly on my lips then the retro matte formula would separate into patches while on my lips and would ball up when I rubbed my lips together. Arghhhh! So I got mad and took the stopper out of the tube, removed as much of everything I could from the tube (horrid retro matte formula is so thin it would easily come out past the other stuff I added earlier when the tube was whacked upside down on a paper plate on my kitchen counter) and refilled it with a more generous amount of lipglass, lipmix satin and lip conditioner. I took a clean bamboo skewer and stirred everything before replacing the tube stopper and finally NOW it is behaving, and the color of the tube is still looks the exact same as when I bought it yet it applies with only a tiny tint of the original color and a whole lot of hydration. Now it truly is perfect because it’s mostly three different Mac lip moisturizers combined! Never again and thank goodness this is the only Retro Matte Liquid I bought!

Bronzers -MAC Cosmetics -Matte Bronze

on 10/15/2018 7:18:00 PM

I am c1 to c2 nc20ish and this blends into my cheeks seamlessly. It doesnt look orange or muddy. Ive always had trouble finding a good bronzer. I dont contour, i simply just use this to warm up my skin. Id put this on my neck(if i am using c2 in face and body and it can be a tad dark so i use this bronzer to make my neck and chest match my face.) I also use this on the outside perimeters of my cheeks and some on the forehead. Basically "where the sun hits". I like that this is matte and does not have any shine or shimmer. I like how this makes me look more tan without it looking fake or too harsh.

This has become my everyday staple to help match my summer foundation to my neck. I dont want to get another shade for winter so my trick is to use this bronzer so i dont look like my face is darker than my chest. It adds color in a subtle way because its not super pigmented so its buildable and layerable to your preference. If its too harsh, you can mess up a lot faster and easier. Ive tried and hated hoola lite bronzer. That one had so much kickup and it just didnt look good on me. I much prefer this. Id recommend.

Mascara -MAC Cosmetics -In Extreme Dimension 3D Black Lash

on 10/15/2018 5:55:00 PM

I really shouldn't review mascaras at all, because middle age has wreaked havoc on my already sparse, short, thin, dark blonde lashes. Thick or long barrels make a message of my eyelids, with more product on skin than hair. I usually forego mascara completely and just use a chocolate brown eye pencil slightly smudged.

So I got a sample of this one in a recent Birchbox and I'm sorry to say, no miracles happened here. The brush is long and round enough to be useless on my cobwebby bottom lashes. The formula is a bit on the dry side, so I didn't get many uses out of this sample size. I was not impressed by the product. Even if the brush had been short and thin (like the Clinique mascara for bottom lashes, or the IT Cosmetics variety) I don't think the formula was that great.
