Lip Liners -MAC -Lipliner in Spice

on 8/19/2018 11:26:00 AM

I have used this liner since the 90’s - BUT, before you think I never left the 90’s, in different ways. I always come back to this lip liner. Yes, I still wear it with MAC Twig (though I mostly wear Twig with Edge to Edge l/l). I don’t feel that browns look all that good on me but when I want a neutral look, I simply use this pencil with nothing on top or maybe with Chanel Burnt Sugar RC gloss or WNW Rose Gold gloss. This is also the only liner I use when I want to tone down a loud lipstick. I often find that if I purchase a lipstick that is too garish on me, this underneath will do the trick. MAC liners are my favorite- they function as a liner should- grab hold of lipstick and gloss without trying to BE a lipstick or a gloss. I’m not a fan of Whirl not Soar- Spice just seems to be a workhorse for me.

Toners -MAC -Lightful Softening Lotion

on 8/19/2018 7:44:00 AM

I am on to my second bottle of this and will keep repurchasing! It is a little on the pricy side (for me anyway, as I am a bargain hunter) but I have found it to be one of the few toners I have found that actually packs a punch with its ingredients. It does have fragrance it it which I generally avoid but I haven't found it to be irritating as it is fairly low down on the ingredient list. However I cover my eyes to avoid spraying it in them as that does sting for me. I think the packaging is cute and I love to use it as a first step in my morning routine as it adds some nice ingredients and a little moisture but doesn't leave a tacky finish that interferes with my other products.

*I have recently purchased the Andalou Naturals Illuminating Toner as it seemed like a similar product but was much better value for money. So far I like both, but the Andalou toner does have a cloying scent that I don't love. I still think the MAC one is my favourite in this category!

Concealers -MAC -Pro Longwear Concealer

on 8/19/2018 4:57:00 AM

I have really bad dark corcles and in the past have found it really difficult to find a concealer that covers everything and lasts all day without creasing. I used to use the Revlon colorstay (the only drugstore one I could find in my shade) but it would crease after like 15 minutes despite baking it. I decided to switch to something a little more high end, and I came across this. This concealer has great coverage and does last pretty much all day whilst I'm at school, even though I play a lot of sports. Sometimes if I want a more natural look I'll mix it with a little moisturizer and use that instead, it has less coverage but the wear time is the sane and it makes it look like you aren't wearing any makeup.

If I could change one thing about the product I would probably change the packaging, as I have a few issues with it. Firstly, the fact that it comes in a glass bottle worries me as I am generally an extremely clumsy person. I travelled with it recently and carried it in the box it came in to avoid it cracking. Second, the pump. A lot of people have been saying that it dispenses too much product, but in my experience if I press lightly and only take out a 'half pump' that works perfectly. The issue I have is that it means I have to get it on the back of my hand and use my fingers to apply it which means more cleanup time after, this is not ideal because I'm generally doing my makeup in a rush in the morning before school. The Revlon concealer I was using before was bad product-wise, but I preferred it's doe foot applicator because it made the process a lot faster and less messy.

Overall, once I finish this bottle I probably will be repurchasing it despite the price tag. It does what it claims and the bottle lasts a really long time, as you only need like a drip each day. I know it works for me, plus Mac has a huge shade range which makes it a lot easier for me. With my sounds tone, it can be difficult to find matching face products but Mac does a great job accommodating everyone which is lovely.

Blush -MAC -Powder Blush - Peachykeen

on 8/18/2018 8:04:00 PM

My everyday brush, beautiful muted pink shade with tiny golden glitter specks.
I’d say it can look good on almost any skin tone.
However does not last on my skin for too long... and glass on my packaging popped off only after couple weeks of use;(

Eye Shadow -MAC -Satin - Discrete

on 8/18/2018 6:32:00 PM

After all these years, I "lucked" onto what seems to be an authentic compact of Discrete, and better still, I HAVE FOUND A DUPE!

The dupe is Coastal Scents' "Sand Dune:"

Both Discrete and Sand Dune are a light greyish "pearl" color; a beautiful and unique cool neutral.
I can scarcely tell them apart when they're swatched.
Sand Dune is actually smoother and better pigmented than Discrete, and may have a tiiiiiny bit more shimmer, but as far as color goes, they're practically identical.
Since my Discrete is used, I don't know if I'll have the nerve to actually apply it to my lids, but it's a lovely color that I'm very gratified to finally own.
Some people have likened Discrete to MAC "Shroom," but I can't agree; Shroom is lighter and much warmer.

I indicated that I would repurchase Discrete, but since it's long since discontinued, I probably *couldn't* find it again.

However, I like the color enough to gladly repurchase its dupe when the time comes.
