Misc Beauty Tools -MAC Cosmetics -Full Lash Curler

on 4/20/2019 2:24:00 PM

This is a crummy eyelash curler, the worst I've ever tried. It is fairly expensive, but if it was a good product, it would have been worth the price. It barely curls my lashes and pinches my skin each time. I threw it out. Complete waste. MAC makes a half lash curler which is excellent so I thought this would be good also. Not! Save your money.

Eye Shadow -MAC Cosmetics -Eyeshadow - Amber Lights

This is a colour that ought to be used in conjunction with others, not on its own. That is when the real beauty of it becomes apparent. I love it with Embark. I sometimes add Bronze or Twinks to this combination. Because it is such a rich colour I think it would look good on black eyes where sometimes they avoid such shades this one would not look faded. I wrote this in my review for Arena, but it goes for this eyeshadow moreso- that the tones in it make the whites of your eyes seem clearer and brighter. Esp on my lower lashline, with the aforementioned shadows on the lid. Beautiful richness of Embark and Amber Lights- one like dark velvet its depth, the other bright- combo is stunning! It can be made softer with a matte cream coloured shadow under.

Makeup Brushes -MAC Cosmetics -191 Square Foundation Paint Brush

Ok so I bought this to apply full coverage liquid foundation... and it took a learning curve... but to do so (and boy is it FULL coverage), ya do little strokes up and down like a painter but MINI TINY up and down. You’ll Have Doll Skin. However.. I’ve decided I prefer a tradition synthetic soft paddle foundation brush or stippling or super soft kabuki (flat or round)... or the good ol blender.

My HG use for this brush is with MAC studio fix powder+ foundation. It gives you the MOST mileage ever I have SEEN with powder+!!!!! Doll skin. Again. Already in the end of April I am an NW30. (I have not been over nw20 in a while!). I bought 2 powder+ (one for home with this 191 and one for touch ups in purse). You will not need concealer believe me! As long as your skin is oily enough - which mine was not until it got acclimated to my Retin-A! (A year later skin back to oily self lol). I use the retinoid for aging - I’m 40. I still spf the dickens out of my skin I’m just constantly walking outside with the warm weather. I HIGHLY recommend the 191 w powder+. No weird learning curve technique needed! Just slap it on! Oh... to bring down neck /jaw slightly to blend like I always do, I use a fluffy powder brush since I’m not covering there. I’m just blending into pale neck.

Lipstick -MAC Cosmetics -Powderkiss Mandarin O

on 4/19/2019 2:43:00 PM

Mandarin O is a great shade of these. I’ve tried a light nude - patchy city!! I made sure I had mandarin (over a liner) on for an hour or 2 before purchase. Also I like unblossomed or whatever it’s called unbloomed maybe (sorry!!) — light shimmer lavender! It’s very nice! I carry around like a balm when I’m wearing it that day. Mandarin o is darker coral, so you do have to take more care when applying. Pulls more pink than orange on my currently darker than usual nw25 skin, and looks scrumptious. Moisture matte very APT description!!! Sheer wash of moisturizing matte (yet still rich) color!!!

Concealers -MAC Cosmetics -Pro Longwear Concealer

I haven't used this too long, only about 2 weeks, but I am really happy with it so far. I use NC35, which is a pretty good color match for my skin, compared to almost every other concealer I've tried. It is very slightly too orange/beige (hard to describe), but it's very close, and it's not that noticeable.

So I don't use this under my eyes. I use it on acne marks - the ones I have are sort of a muted reddish purple color. I don't color correct first, or wear foundation, just this. My marks aren't super bad now, but I do have to say that for someone who has darker marks, or more fresh ones or a lot of active acne, it most likely wouldn't give enough coverage on its own. If I wanted my skin to look flawless this might not be enough coverage either - I have had to reapply later in the day for going out if I put it on in the morning, so it's not SUPER long lasting but I mean, that's kind of to be expected.

I apply by washing my hands and then using my fingers, and depending on if I took too much out of the pump (I'm still trying to figure out the pump) I'll blend with a brush. I am pretty happy with how natural the finish looks.

I will update this review in a couple of weeks when I will have a better idea of if my skin likes this or not.
