A lovely, beautiful soft scent of vanilla and jasmine with tuberose, it has a bit if a woodsy, musky base. I love it and it's a floral that actually works in fall. It came out in 2013 and I still love it.

Ylang 49 is a very good release from Le Labo .Having worn this numerous times I can say this. Ylang 49 resembles Aromatics Elixir ( AE for short) by Clinique. Tremendously old school chypre fragrance - tart, sharpish, mega longevity especially ( IMHO ) as your bottle ages / matures. I took me several long thoughts to work out what scent Ylang reminded me of. I loved it immediately of course and now I know, it smells like Aromatics Elixir before it was reformulated. The only difference I can ascertain is that Ylang is missing the velvety rose note I used to get from pre reformulated AE . Apart from that the choice is - do you need two fragrances that are so similar. If you love AE and need more then YES. If not ....well NO. Having said that AE is not the completely full bodied scent it used to be . Less if any rose and the oakmoss ?? If you are buying Ylang for the gardenia or ylang note - I think you maybe disappointed. Ylang is a good buy if you like vintage-y strong and dry chypres. This is not a floral as you think it will be especially with the name Ylang.

Gaiac is a minimalistic masterpiece.I first tried this at Barney's and it did not sit well with me for the first couple of times I sampled it. I got ...bacon. Hickory smoked bacon. Incense and bacon. The SA did have a good laugh !However, I was able to move past that .I do love Le Labo . I took an expensive chance last year 2017. I bought a 50 ml bottle of Gaiac over Mousse de Chene , Vanille , Aldehydes etc ,etc. I found, over time, the bacon aspect disappeared and it became a scent of cool incense .I have read that some find Gaiac a quiet scent that disappears or is not lasting. Gaiac is a scent that requires no more than two sprays . On me, it lasts and lasts with soft billows of that cool and chic incense ,that never shouts . It's quite linear too. Unisex .It is a 5 star fragrance. Never underestimate Le Labo creations especially the City Exclusives. There is always more to them than meets the eye or nose. This is what makes them unique in their offerings. What may appear simple, effortless is usually a work of art.

I have to agree with the reviewer below in that this is not a decidedly feminine or masculine scent. It is androgenous, modern, sophisticated, and lovely for those with discerning tastes. It is warm without being spicy, and woodsy without smelling like a conifer. I don't know how they do it but it's brilliant. My body chemistry tends not to project the lighter notes in anything, and it's probably for this reason I can't detect the top notes of citrus, rose, and mint described by others. I'm totally ok with that though because this fragrance is incredibly complex despite this, and it is absolutely an experience, not just a smell. This is another one of Le Labo's genius creations and if you have the money to spring for it, you won't be sorry!

Clean packaging, don't think it did anything to my face. Washing it off is extremely annoying (charcoal pigment come through!), probably best to hop in the shower and rinse thoroughly.
