I am surprised that I have not written a review of this. My now husband, then boyfriend, wore this in the 1980s and I have a bottle of vintage Lagerfeld for men. Also known as Lagerfeld Classic, it has been reformulated and re released in the same bottle - silver circle top, so best bet for the old version is to find a bottle with limited fragrance ingredient list. The Lagerfeld release from 2014 is also a different fragrance, being an aromatic fougere with lavander. Notes as per Fragrantica of Lagerfeld, referred to as Classic 1978 in the Fragrantica title. include aldehydes, sweet orange, mandarin, bergamot and estragon. Cedar wood, Jasmine, iris, rose, patchouli. tobacco. Amber, musk, oak, Tonka, vanilla. It’s well blended and not as powdery as SL ambre sultan or Fumerie Turque or fr3deric Malles Musc Ravageur. Some citrus turns candied on me (in a not good way, like vintage Guerlain Habit Rouge edt or Goutals Eau de Hadrian) but this is fine, no issues on that front. Nice in winter. IMO, unisex. Currently my husband finds it too dated for himself and wears vetiver extraordinaire or Eau de Hiver (both Frederic Malle). Personally, I think that this inspired some niche perfumes like Amouage lyric (lyric for women is more amber powder, whereas lyric f9r men is more Rose).

The sun, moons and stars motif was a big fad the year this came out, the design was everywhere. I loved this stuff in 1995. Either it has changed a lot, or I have. Heavy, sweet, but not a gourmand. Not for the office nor for romance. Nothing original about it. Really just smells cheap. And it is cheap.

always was too expensive. The fragrance is wonderful, but my overall rating is impacted by the affordability issue.

Why oh why did they discontinue this classic to replace it with the cheap generic rubbish laughingly known as Chloe? This is a beautiful white floral with gardenia and tuberose. It lasts all day and I will keep buying it as long as I can get it.

I agree with the reviewer below me; this is without a doubt a LOVE IT or HATE IT fragrance. To me, it really is an early 90s scent, but it's the first perfume I ever bought myself so it is special. I really love it; it lasts the longest on me of any perfume I've ever worn. You don't have to wear much at all to get noticed. It's distinctive, not for those who just like to be safe or fit in.
