Moisturizers -La Prairie -Cellular Day Cream

on 10/16/2018 11:06:00 AM

This is unfortunately a discontinued product, however this is one of the four products originally launched by La Prairie in 1978. (Although the formula itself was reformulated somewhere in the 80s to this more elegant creation.)

This is an exceptionally elegant moisturizer. It is rich and lavishly nourishing giving a visibly more hydrated skin without leaving a greasy film and/or residue on the surface of the skin.

It is a classic formula of an exceptional (and very expensive) emulsifier (C12-20 Acid Peg-8 Ester) that is bio-compatible with the skin and Cetyl Phosphate (that integrates into the skin barrier without disturbing its function). C12-20 Acid Peg-8 Ester is also the one responsible for providing continuous delivery of water (hydration) to the skin. It is also an excellent emulsifier and emollient for very sensitive and eczema-prone skin that is allowed in pharmaceutical products (topical drugs) with over 50 years of research and scientific proof behind it.

It contains a hypoallergenic emollient Hydrogenated Polyisobutene and along with the long lasting hydration providing Petrolatum, Beeswax and Lanolin. Polyperfluoromethylisopropyl Ether will contribute to hydration and te exceptional elegance of the product.
The structural formula is the same as the Cellular Eye Cream (along with most of La Prairie's eye creams), just a bit lighter version.

I used to love this simple moisturizer in the winter time for providing some protection against the cold weather while leaving an elegant finish without irritating the skin.

Ingredients as of 2006: Purified Water, C12-20 Acid Peg-8 Ester, Hydrogenated Polyisobutene, Dicaprylyl Maleate, Propylene Glycol, Hydrogenated Vegetable Oil, Petrolatum, Butylene Glycol, Glycerin, Acetylated Lanolin, Glycoproteins, Panax Ginseng Root Extract, Equisetum Arvense (Horsetail) Extract, Carbomer, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter), Cera Alba (Beeswax), DEA-Cetyl Phosphate, Polyperfluoromethylisopropyl Ether, Fragrance, Benzyl Alcohol, Linalool, Hydroxycitronellal, Alpha-Isomethyl Ionone, Amyl Cinnamal, Hexyl Cinnamal, Evernia Furfuracea (Treemoss) Extract, Geraniol, Benzyl Benzoate, Butylphenyl Methylpropional, Citronellol, Eugenol, Benzyl Salicylate, Chlorphenesin, Phenoxyethanol, Methylparaben

So much fragrance, so many problematic ingredients! But people like to be fooled by high prices and good line filling effects.

Treatments (Eye) -La Prairie -Essence of Skin Caviar Eye Complex

Blush -La Prairie -Cellular Radiance Cream Blush in Rose Glow

on 10/2/2018 11:10:00 AM

Good afternoon, I want to buy this blush in the rose glow tone, I live in Spain and here they do not sell La Prairie makeup, I have to buy it online and in stores where they only have 3 shades the Berry Glow, Peach Glow and Plum glow , but the Rose Glow is not :(, and I want the Rose, you can tell me if any of the others looks like the Rose Glow.

Thank you very much for the help.

Greetings from Spain

Treatments (Face) -La Prairie -Cellular 3-Minute Peel

How had I forgotten to review this, I have no idea? I first discovered this after seeing a Youtube video about the peel, some 9 or 10 years ago. I tried it then and loved it straight away: pores smaller, skin much smoother than with any manual exfoliator, more even and any rough patches disappeared. It also flattened any acne on my chin or if I got the odd one on my forehead and it did this literally overnight! If you weren't aware, LP Cellular 3 Minute Peel is an AHA/BHA peel that combines Lactic, Glycolic and Salicylic acids at concentrations that you can use at home without the downtime you'd experience with a full strength peel. Not a big fan of the brush applicator that comes with it as it wastes product so I just use a spatula to apply and avoid getting fingers into jar.
Anyhow a year back I caught sight of it at an airport duty free and decided to treat myself to a jar. Results aside I just can't resist such stunning, sleek product packaging...a big weakness of mine I admit!

Now although I still love this product I have to say that in the interim period I've used all sorts of AHA products, from basics like The Ordinary, up to Drunk Elephant, Alpha-H, you name it! I cannot see a more pronounced difference with LP regardless of whether I leave on for 3 minutes as directed or 10 (the maximum my skin can take) and any of the others (bar The Ordinary which my skin did not react well to). The results on my face with AHA are more or less the same regardless of which brand is delivering them. To me LP feels more like a treat, something to gift someone, or oneself. I'm all for spending on premium products but if they perform just as efficiently as something that's a third of the price then I know which one I would pick up for regular use. For a once in a while treat/splurge though I will definitely keep coming back to LP.
