Hair Treatments -L'Oreal -Extraordinary Oil

foto

Only recently have I decided to try several of L'Oreal's hair care products - this one being the first. I used it for approximately 2 weeks. I don't have fine hair, my hair is slightly course and reasonably thick. I used Extraordinary Oil in 2 ways. First week as a pre-soak before washing my hair, leaving it in for about 30 minutes. On the 2nd week I applied to the lengths/ends after washing my hair to give it condition.
Verdict: it did give me shine and softness but it didn't amount to anything huge. I would still find my hair pretty much zapped of all moisture by the end of the day so it wasn't giving it the degree of protection I'd hoped for.

I think this is one of those that will work differently on different hair types/textures. You'll either love it or hate it. For the price however it isn't going to cost much at all, compared to similar products out there by other brands it's actually very good value imo.

Blush -L'Oreal -True Match Super-Blendable Blush - Baby Blossom

I love this pale baby pink blush, because it almost acts like a brightener and blush in one. I just don't look as good in bright or dark blushes, whether they be peachy or pink. I have lightly tanned skin (NC25ish), and this adds a soft touch of feminine pink to the apples of my cheeks. In the winter when I'm pale, this is also beautiful, and still has that brightening effect for my face. I actually do use the brush that comes with it, and it gets the job done just fine. I have tried a few other TM shades, but this is the only one I have repurchased, and likely would again.

Brows -L'Oreal -Brow Stylist Definer

I got this in light brunette. It is a good product but the packaging makes this a no-go. And I am not a packaging snob if the price point is low and the product is good. Week 1: The spoolie fell off - no biggie, I glued it back on. Week 2: Glue didn't stay, okay fine, use a different spoolie. Week 3: The body pulls apart when I try to uncap the pencil - this is just useless! I can't be fiddling around with a stupidly packaged brow pencil every morning. So keep looking for your HG ds brow pencil - this ain't it.

Skincare - Face -L'Oreal -Paris Infallible Makeup Extender Setting Spray

This was just ok for me. Nothing particularly special. At around 16$ CA, it's not exactly cheap either. On the positive side, you have the fact that it sprays fairly evenly which feels nice against the skin, there isn't a strong scent that I can detect, and it's great for wetting my brush when I'm applying a colourful eyeshadow and I really want the colour to pop.  On the other hand, there is no way this extends the wear of my makeup because there's zero difference by the end of my work day where I use the spray or not. I'll probably buy something else once I run out of this one.

Liquid -L'Oreal -True Match Super-Blendable Makeup SPF 17

foto

I keep coming back to this foundation. It's not perfect, but has enough positives versus other liquids, that I keep repurchasing. The biggest positive for me would be, the all mineral SPF17. I have sensitive combo/oily skin, and don't want to layer on products in the summer, and this applies well onto bare skin, and gives me some gentle sun protection. This never causes me breakouts. The coverage is quite good for a thinner formula, and is very buildable, yet feels weightless. The shade range is great of course! For reference, I am currently around an NC25 (light, golden/neutral undertones) and W3 is a perfect color match. In the winter I use "W2". I love the cute little apothecary style bottle! The price is reasonable, and this is easy to find in most drugstores.

I only have 2 negatives: 1) in cooler months, this will highlight dry patches, and 2) the formula does not hold up long over oily areas. I just dust some of the matching powder over my oil prone nose/forehead, and it holds up decently with a little blotting throughout the day.
