Brows -L'Oreal Paris -Brow Stylist Shape & Fill

on 10/17/2018 6:38:00 PM

I have recently discovered these triangular-tip brow pencils after being introduced to one at the MAC counter. I love how easy to use they are for someone like me with a limited brow skill set. I've been searching for a drugstore dupe ever since, and I've tried them all, from Maybelline to Wet & Wild and everything in between. I have to say, this is the best of the bunch. It is so easy to use, and is fool-proof for creating a natural but polished and finished-looking brow with minimal effort. It is the perfect consistency - not too hard so that it drags, but not so soft so that it smears. I use the flat edge across the brow for general filling in (my brows are extremely sparse) and use the tip at the end very lightly to draw the tail. My only gripe is the color selection - I generally use a 'soft brown' in Maybelline and "Lingering" in the MAC pencil for my ash brown brows. I purchased the "Light Brunette" in this one but it appeared extremely red on me and looked very strange and unnatural. I tried "Dark Blonde" but it had an oddly greenish cast. I finally exchanged both for "Brunette" and it was a VERY dark neutral brown, but it was the best of the lot. I found that if I use a very light hand I'm able to get the look I'm going for, which is believably natural-looking brows. So I recommend this highly with the caveat that you are best to purchase it at a place where you can test it out first, or save your receipt and be sure your retailer has a good exchange policy.

Conditioner -L'Oreal Paris -Dream Lengths Conditioner

Got a sample of this along with the shampoo and I have to say the scent is what got me to purchase the full size. The scent is SOOO good. It's hard to describe, but it's really sweet and fruity and just delicious. The scent also lasted in my hair a very long time and my hair felt clean for a long time too. Not sure if it helps my hair grow or prevent breakage as it claims but I will keep using it purely due to the scent.

Toners -L'Oreal Paris -Fine Flowers Toner

i have sensitive hormonal reactive skin

pros:
- cleanses skin without drying
- gel like consistency lends to lasting longer/less product use
- rather inexpensive for the quantity in the bottle
- easy to find in shops

cons:
- heavily fragranced
- could be problematic if used on skin sensitive to glycerin and fragrance
- the flip top lid is not very well constructed
- may be too harsh on truly dry sensitive skin types

i started using this toner in the mornings after showering and in the evenings, to finish cleansing. it pulls any residue off without stripping the skin, it balances out the drying affect from stridex pad use, and works well with my moisturisers. normally i'm not a fan of fragranced skin products at all; they can be irritating but i found using Simple brand toner was actually very harsh in between Stridex pad treatments so i took the plunge on this one. i will say that it somehow manages to keep my skin bright and, in conjunction with my moisturiser, helps makeup settle beautifully. as the weather continues to get cooler i notice more benefits from this toner. when used in the evenings i wake up to noticeably clearer brighter skin.

still waiting to see how long this bottle lasts and how it performs as the weather changes. the fragrance can be cloying to those who are sensitive.

Mascara -L'Oreal Paris -Voluminous Lash Paradise Mascara

This mascara has the potential to be a clumpy mess. I always wipe all excess product off the wand before use. I've also noticed that some mascaras work best when you really work the wand inbetween all the lashes from root to tip, and others work best lightly swept over the lashes just enough to coat. The latter method has amazing results for me with this one. I do two coats. I do notice a teensy bit more length with BTS, if you're comparing, but I have no smudging with this one like I do with Too Faced. I JUST LOVE YOU, LASH PARADISE.

It does dry out quickly, but if it works better than other mascaras at twice the price, then it still ends up being a better value, in my opinion.
