Tinted Moisturizer -L'Oreal Paris -Age Perfect Rosy Tone Moisturizer

I laugh that young (under 30) women would even consider using this. It's too rich for young skin, and unnecessary if you already have a youthful glow. What this is is a tinted is very emollient rich moisturizer specifically for those of us in the 50plus category. I had a sample and was intrigued. I purchased from the local pharmacy and rushed home to try. Like most "performance" cosmetics, there's is a learning curve with using this. Some reviewers have complained that this it's too thick and pills up when rubbing it in. It does do that if you aren't careful. It doesn't say that it does this, but I think there is a slight tightening agent in the product which you can "overwork" if you continue to rub in after it has started to dry. Some have complained about the strong fragrance, but honestly, it just smells fresh and clean. Some have complained that it is too thick...then this wasn't meant for them. At first, I wasn't not impressed..it pilled, it flaked, it seemed greasy. Then it dried, and behold, my skin did seem as if it was in soft focus with a slight rosy peach tone. This is perfect for women whose skin looks sallow or ashy, especially in the winter months. I've figured out that this works best on freshly washed skin that is ever so slightly moist from the shower. Apply a thin amount with your fingers and swirl on cheeks, forehead, neck and chin. As soon as it has disappeared into your skin, stop rubbing and leave it to dry. It will dry to a matte finish even though it looks shiny at first. The color is ever so subtle, but really does brighten and warm up those ashy tones of winter. I can see using this as part of my daily routine. It's perfect also for those of us who usually go sans makeup but still want a little something to to look finished. This, with a little eye shadow and some tinted lip balm is the perfect "no make-up" makeup for the mature woman.

Mascara -L'Oreal Paris -Voluminous Lash Paradise Mascara

I've been using this mascara for a while now. It's only when I've compared it with other mascaras that I've realised how good it is.

It creates excellent volume and length, and really opens up my eyes. It looks all soft and feathery, which I really like. I have quite sensitive eyes and this one seems less likely to irritate them. It also doesn't smudge above the eye on application, which is a common problem, so you can easily apply several layers. I'm not a huge fan of the packaging because it makes it look pretty insubstantial.

This conditioner hydrates and softens my thick, overprocessed hair better than any other drugstore product, including masks.

Shampoo -L'Oreal Paris -Elvive Hydra Collagen Moisture Rich Shampoo

on 11/14/2018 4:17:00 AM

Life-saver product for my parched hair in the summer. It is a heavy shampoo, like shampoo+conditioner+ silicone serum. I seriously don't need to use anything else afterward and that is quite a success for this affordable shampoo. I prefer avoiding silicone-heavy shampoos because I want later and more serious stages of my hair-care routine to penatrate better. However, when I'm in a rush, or not in the mood for layers and layers of products in the summer, this shampoo cosmetically gives me pampered hair. Soft and smooth, less frizz, less summer puffiness. All matching products work the same- though I think only one product from the series is enough. This shampoo saved my day more than once - camping holidays, diving holidays, stay with a friend whose water made my usual stuff unusable for a while. Effects are temporary, yes, but so are they on my hair with Kerastase Therapiste which has a very similar feel on my hair - Elvive is not sticky like that.

Concealers -L'Oreal Paris -True Match Super-Blendable Multi-Use Concealer

on 11/13/2018 10:45:00 PM

Holy freaking grail. I like to buy cosmetics; I live for the new products because every so often one is like this - perfect for me. I am not sure if this is a new product, a re-package or a re-formulation of the True Match Super-Blend but I grabbed it this summer. I first bought N1 (I think it’s just ‘1’ not ‘1-2’ but I can’t see tiny white writing on a clear cap) but it was far too yellow, C1 is pretty much perfect (no freakish pink undertones!)

The package is idiotic - annoying little fuzzball applicator that wiggles excessively when you apply it (versus Maybelline’s for example, which is very fixed and does not wiggle), unacceptably small amount of product, and, as ever with clicks sticks, you have to click a dozen times before product comes out initially (and then you waste a gob). It works so well - I always think the color looks a bit pale-bright at first, I put my single ply tissue over my face and set it with a little loose powder and forget about it. It is as though my face’s naturally occurring oils “bakes” this on and so long as I don’t touch my undereyes, I arrive at the end of the day with the most porcelain undereye area ever. It’s just unreal. If it was advertised as a new product, I missed it, but it is so my ideal product (except that packaging! Yuck!). I will buy it again, TYVM.
