Moisturizers -L'Oreal -Hydra Genius (Normal/Dry Skin)

on 6/25/2018 9:15:00 AM

Bought this after searching online specifically for a lighter type of moisturiser to use during summer. I have normal/combination skin and during the warmer months it tends to get a touch oily, so my usual cream-based moisturisers felt too thick and heavy and had my skin looking oily around noon already. I've been using this product for a week now and really, really like it. Yes, it has quite a strong fragrance, but as I don't have sensitive skin I actually don't mind scented skin care products. The texture is light, fluid, smooth and feels like a serum but packs a lot more moisture. My skin absorbs this super fast and it's left feeling soft, smooth and not greasy/oily-looking at all. I put it on in the morning after cleansing and putting on a serum and my skin stays hydrated throughout the day. The packing is very nice and I will definitely repurchase this, but only for use during the summer/hotter months. I saw someone else mention in a review that it didn't work on their skin during winter, but this is definitely not a product to use during the colder seasons, in my opinion.

Palettes -L'Oreal -Cherry My Cheri eyeshadow palette

on 6/25/2018 6:24:00 AM

The Cherry My Cheri palette contains 16 powder eyeshadow shades, based around a colour story of "warm cherries, sweet peaches and fresh neutrals". The shadows have a delicate sunfruit fragrance [so soft that I need to have my nose up against the palette to detect it, after the palette has been opened a few times]. This palette is fairly impressive as it is neither too warm or too cool and can be used for a variety of complete 'everyday' eye looks for work or school, with a variety of shades to flatter every skintone. I have liked the majority of looks I've done to date. The blendability is mostly good - I've noticed that layering a matte shadow over a shimmer one when shadowing the edges of the eye can be iffy to blend out. There isn't much fallout. To get a good idea about the wearability of the shadows, I haven't been using eyeshadow primer with this palette and found that for the most part the pigmentation is nice for the price-point and there is minimal colour fading.

However I do have a issue with there only being seven truly matte shades, as you'd be able to create more looks if some of the shimmers had also been mattes. My biggest complaint and question is what happened to the colour story promised on the back of the palette? only 1 [out of 3] peachy shades isn't a tone I'd call neutral, and only 2 [out of 3] richer/darker tones are things I look at and think "ohh. I see where the cherry name comes in."... So that's 13 neutral tones, in a fruit-themed palette. Quite a few of the light and mid-tone neutrals end up looking pretty much the same after they've been applied and blended. I'd have much preferred it if some of the close-matching neutral shades hadn't been included and they'd. have included some more pops of colour to replace them - expanding on the fruity colour story a bit.

I don't regret buying this palette, as it is a good quality for the price and the amount you get is impressive for a drugstore brand [each pan is just over 1g]. I continue to use the palette on occasion, but I wouldn't bother replacing it if I lost or damaged it as it just sits around unloved most of the time. I do think that this would make a nice 'everyday' option for those who enjoy softer looks, and it's also a good starter palette for those new to eyeshadow and/or colour - you can dip your toes in without spending mu

Mascara -L'Oreal -Voluminous Lash Paradise Mascara

This stuff really irritated my eyes, which is unusual for me and mascara, or any product at all honestly. I do wear contacts. At first I thought it was allergies, because I do have some mild reactions to pollen, and it didn’t seem to happen right away. The next day I tried it again. irritation began almost instantly after putting it on. In the trash it went. Cover Girl clump crusher has never bothered me, as well as the no frills great lash if someone else is suspicious this may be setting them off.

Mascara -L'Oreal -Voluminous Original

I LOVE this mascara; it's super black, it adds a ton of volume to my lashes, it lasts the whole day but comes off easily with makeup remover, and it's a good price. Highly recommend.

Liquid -L'Oreal -True Match Super-Blendable Makeup SPF 17

I tried this a few years back and never wrote a review. Product goes on the skin well, used W3 nude beige. Looking at the bottle now I don’t think that’s gonna suit me, unless I got super tanned. The thing with this foundation is that before mid day the foundation has already made me look like a grease ball. This is not for people who have oily skin. I would recommend trying if you have dry skin. Such a shame, because if the finish is more matte I would have wear this everyday as it comes with spf 17 as well.
