Skincare - Face -Julep -Boost Your Radiance Reparative Rosehip Seed Facial Oil

on 1/5/2019 7:38:00 PM

I am a big fan of facial oils but this wasn't one of my favorites for my skin. It was thick and just sat on top of my skin. I sometimes like to put a little oil under my concealer but this was way to greasy for that. I was using it before bed and would head to bed with my face looking like it was covered in Crisco, but in the morning, my skin would feel dried out. So overall, it was super greasy, yet wasn't moisturizing my skin. I saw more wrinkles than I do normally because my skin was so dehydrated.

I went back to my Fresh Seaberry oil for winter and my skin looks and feels much better.

Polishes -Julep -Nail Polishes

on 12/1/2018 10:57:00 AM

I am a nurse and don't usually do anything more to my nails than keep them trimmed and apply clear or super sheer polishes because long painted nails are generally frowned upon in my profession. I recently signed up for the Julep beauty box and received a box of 12 polishes free. Many of the shades are very deep -- purples, blues, grays, and metallics. I painted my fingernails with the only light shade (Birgit?), which is a pretty lilac/mauve/gray. I used a base coat, 2 coats of polish, and a top clear coat. Looked lovely but the color was basically in shreds on my fingertips after just one 12 hour shift. I have to wash or foam my hands very often and also frequently wear gloves. So, not work friendly! Right now I have this pretty metallic navy blue on my finger nails but I am not working for several days so hopefully I will get better wear this time.

Eye Shadow -Julep -Eyeshadow 101 Crème-to-Powder Eyeshadow Stick - Stone

on 7/24/2018 5:30:00 PM

This was my first Julep purchase, but I don't think it will be my last.

I usually wear only pressed-powder eyeshadow. This time, though, I wanted a cream, stick, or pencil, for a quick, easy, one-and-done shadow application, with no primer necessary on my very oily lids. And I wanted a matte taupe grey. And I wanted cruelty-free.

With all of these specifications, I asked the MUA board for recommendations, and was steered toward this.

It's ideal! Stone is a beautifully smooth well-pigmented satin-matte warm gray that looks gray, not blue, on me. All I do is dust a thin layer of oil-absorbing powder (my favorite is from Soap & Glory) on my lids, apply Stone lightly, blend with a clean finger, and my eyes are nicely, subtly shadowed, and the look stays fresh and crease-free for hours. My lids do eventually begin to feel a bit "moist," but not for a long time, and I detect no fading or creasing.

Packaging is first-class - a substantial metal tube whose caps fit securely. One end offers a rounded sponge that can be used for blending instead of your fingers, if you prefer. I find that either works well.

I'll definitely buy Stone again, and will consider other shades of the Eyeshadow 101 Crème-to-Powder Eyeshadow Stick. I only wish there were more matte shades; there's a decent selection of neutrals, but they're mostly shimmery. I wouldn't mind if these cost a bit less, too(they're $18.00 each), but for a product this good, I'll deal.

Cleansers -Julep -love your bare face

on 6/26/2018 1:36:00 PM

Don't love this. I was actually intrigued with the packaging (at first!) bc it is easy to travel with (or so I thought)! The product has a tendency to "melt" from semi solid to a sticky gooey mess if any moisture is left in the container, which is easy to do. It feels like my skin is clean, after MUCH rinsing, but borderline stripped of all oils! For me, this usually creates an overproduction of oil and breakouts. Its pretty expensive too! Wont repurchase!

Eyeliner -Julep -When Pencil Met Gel

on 4/28/2018 10:21:00 AM

Where have these pencils been all my life???? :) I'm a Julep Maven and got one of these pencils in Bronze Shimmer as an add-on about a year ago. It's my favorite pencil and favorite shade! I also purchased Rich Brown, which is a really good color on me. Do yourself a favor if you buy one of these pencils---get a Julep pencil sharpener for them. If you get the regular monthly Maven box, you can usually add on a pencil sharpener for about $4. It's a cute design and works really well on these!
