Blush -JILL STUART -Mix Blush Compact

on 7/3/2017 11:41:00 AM

The only reason I'd not repurchase is the price and the availability (I live in Indonesia). I bought this via inflight shop in.. I think Cathay Pacific. The pricey price is understandable, given the cute packaging and brush attached to the blush.

The colors are amazing and for me, the pigmentation is just the right amount. My blush compact also has light colors which might be usable for highlights but I always only use the blush colors. You'd want their blush if you prefer natural colors.

Overall, with the price point and everything, I believe this blush deserves a try. Repurchase wise, I actually would repurchase it if it's not so hard to find. It's convenient because the brush is attached to the blush, and the size and shape of the packaging is not bulky. It's very easy to take with you during travels, and it's cute!

Foundations -JILL STUART -Moist Silk Jelly Foundation

on 1/11/2017 9:58:00 PM

Since I haven't found any reviews about this little gem and find it very worth mentioning... here it goes.

I will just skip how adorable the Jill Stuart package design is, cause we all know it already. So of course this foundation that comes in a glass jar, covered with a plastic lid and a silver cap with ornaments and an included spatula is no exception when it comes to it's visual performance. A true eye candy. Unfortunately not very convenient and hygienic, since it comes in a jar/pot, which is why I took one lippy off.

I don't really wear foundations often to begin with, since I prefer BB creams. But whenever I wear this one, I get so many compliments on my complexion. What I love about this product is that it's one of those that even out the complexion and drastically minimizes the appearance of pores without drying my skin out and without being heavy or cakey. A lot of foundations that focus on the pores and evening out the skin will provide good oil control but start to look patchy after a few hours on my drier areas of the face. The main ingredient of this foundation is rose water and it also contains lavender oil and avocado oil, which is probably why my face looks so glowy and radiant and feels so hydrated. And yes, it smells rosy. :) However, if your skin is super dry, you may need to apply a thick moisturizer just to be sure.

I usually apply the foundation with my beauty blender but also tried it out with a foundation brush, both works great, as the foundation blends beautifully. The finish is rather silky and natural and the coverage is on the lighter side but definitely buildable to medium. If I had to describe it in percent where 0& is none and 100% is full coverage, I'd say this foundation's coverage is between 30% and 65%. The oil control is okay, but nothing outstanding, I needed to blot after 5h. However, it doesn't crease or fade. I got this in Japan for around $50, but I don't remember the exact price.

+°+°On the sidenote for those of you who are sensitive to silicones, this contains cyclomethicone and dimethicone.°+°+

I'm rating this foundation with 4.3 lippies and here is why it 'only' got 4.3 instead of 5.

1. the poor colour range.

The Moist Silk Jelly Foundation only comes in 5 shades. I got the lightest one (101 linen) which is pretty much like MAC NC20 and it's way too dark for me (I'm somewhere around 10, even NC15 is too dark for me). I normally mix this with my Illamasqua Skin Base Foundation in 2.0 to get the perfect match.

Lipstick -JILL STUART -Lipstick

It doesn't matter which Jill Stuart product you buy, it will make you feel like a princess/mermaid/fairy since the package design is so beautiful and girly.

I bought a few shades of the Jill Stuart lip blossoms and uploaded a picture, so you can see all available colours:

- 04 / petit cherry
- 11 / flamingo plant
- 15 / viola mist
- 18 / elegant peony

Jill Stuart lipsticks (or lip blossoms, as they are called in this case) are typical Japanese lipsticks: super moisturising, slick, with a sheer colour payoff and a glossy finish, so you don't need to top it with a lipgloss afterwards. This doesn't mean, that there are no Japanese matte lipsticks, but most of them are on the shinier/glossier side. Thanks to the rich formula, these lipsticks glide like a charm, so the application is super easy and comfortable and they wont leave you with dry or chapped lips. The finish is beautiful, since the JS lippies don't have those nasty shimmer particles, they just provide this beautiful luminous look, no disco ball effect on the lips. The downside of all luminous lipsticks is their longevity and those are not an exception, I usually need to reapply every 4 hours. I don't know how well these will work on deep skin colours, since the colour payoff is more on the sheer side but if your skin tone is light-medium, it should work perfectly well and the colour can be built up to a certain point. :)

Eye Shadow -JILL STUART -Eye Jelly

I love these!!!

I haven't actually used them in a while, but I do own a great number of these - couldn't stop buying them, I wanted them all!!

These are potted cream eyeshadows that have a jelly-like texture. when you wipe your finger in, it's not quite smooth like regular cream eyeshadow, rather it's a little jelly-ish, a little purun purun like, so when you swipe in you might get a mini dollop instead of a flat swipe? Or like maybe like soufflé?

The colors are generally very shimmery, meant for all over as base or as a shimmery topper. These generally gives a kind of wet effect, but there's no ginormous glitter bits. Very glittery/shimmery but no ginormous bits. So hard to describe...! I believe this comes in various light to medium colors, I don't believe there are any dark shades.

So what I find particularly lovely about these is their staying power - once blended on, these will stay reaaaaaaaaaally long. Canmake, a very cheap drugstore makeup brand that I really love as well, has a duplicate/similar eyeshadows as well but they're not nearly as nice and does not last nearly as well, and Canmake only has one or two shades, not like 20. These Jelly pots also have good blending ability, there's enough time to blend onto your eye before it dries and sets.

Note that these are scented - it's actually pretty strong but I really like it (somehow it smells like it'll taste good LOL) so I don't mind, but note that these are scented.

I noticed that if you leave it for too long these might separate a little bit on the edges, in that way these are similar to the Chanel Illusion d'Ombre - so don't leave them for too long! But they do last a surprising amount of time, possibly because these are more soufflé/jelly so there's a higher moisture content, thus takes longer to dry out?

these are rather expensive but there are some really pretty shades in like champagne rose gold for example that would look amazing in any eye look as a shimmery base, so I think it has a lot of use to it. Really recommend these!
