Loose Powders -Hourglass Cosmetics -Veil Translucent Setting Powder

on 9/17/2018 5:43:00 AM

Initially I wanted to start with a travel size for that powder as, honestly, I probably have too many of them. But discounts and free gifts did their dirty business and I ended up with a huge full-size one.

I love the good matte or semi-matte look but it’s a bit difficult to achieve for me as I’m prone to sweating and my chin is also sometimes prone to oiliness. The funny thing is that otherwise my skin is mostly dry.

Okay, let’s start with cons:
• it’s not travel friendly as it’s big and glossy;
• as with most HG products – there’ll be fingerprints all over;
• the effect doesn’t last all day, can be alright for up to 6h though.

• once you’ve found out how to get a medium amount of powder (I shake it slightly while keeping the lid not fully closed) – it’s actually pretty comfortable to use – I’ve lost minimum of powder with this one;
• it’s huge: the amount of powder is over 10g, will last a while;
• the packaging is pretty while impractical;
• it gives the most beautiful healthy finish I’ve ever seen on me achieved with a powder. And I’ve tried plenty of them including the HG pressed powders.

I still think that the powder could be better: especially in terms of having more staying power. And idk if it affects my makeup as I only use the light amount of it during the warm seasons. But overall I really like it and use it often, so unless I find something much better (what I doubt) I’ll repurchase HG Veil powder when it’s over.

Primer/ Corrector -Hourglass Cosmetics -Veil Mineral Primer SPF 15

I almost never return make-up, but I returned this. I was really happy with it at first. I loved the feel of it and it made my foundation apply better and last longer. However, within about two weeks I started to get milia around my eyes. I haven't had milia in more than a decade! I wasn't using any other new products so I was pretty sure this was it. And I was right, the milia stopped as soon as I stopped using this. Such a disappointment. Also, the packaging is very pretty but not at all travel friendly.

Lipstick -Hourglass Cosmetics -Lip Stylo - Futurist

I received this as part of a nude lip kit from Sephora. I'd never tried Hourglass before, so I was geeked. My verdict: It's okay. The color is pretty, kind of a mauve-nude. There's no shimmer, no flavor, no scent, so those are all good. It's a satin formula, kind of a creamy bordering on matte look, not heavy, but natural appearing. The formula is comfy. I like it, but I don't love it. Given $32 to spend on a lip product, I'd be more inclined to buy something else, just because it seems a bit steep for a lip crayon. Good, sure. Mind-blowing, not so much. Maybe if I came across it on sale...

Palettes -Hourglass Cosmetics -Ambient Lighting Palette

This has made such a difference in my skin. After finishing my makeup I dust a brush through all three colors and use over the areas where I applied bronzer (cheeks and forehead). It creates a soft focus affect on my skin - no filter needed!

I actually see a difference in my skin when I don’t use this. It gives you a glow from within look that I haven’t been able to replicate with other products. Other reviewers who knock it for being a little too dark for fair skin are right, BUT I have been able to make it work by applying it over my bronzer areas rather than all over.

I recommend and would definitely repurchase. However, you definitely get a lot for your money so I don’t think a repurchase would be necessary for a while!

Blush -Hourglass Cosmetics -Ambient Lighting Powder Blush - Mood Exposure

I have tried sooo many blushes-high end, drugstore, powder, cream, stain etc., and this is BY FAR the best. It looks so natural, and truly gives that lit from within glow. My cheeks look so healthy and pretty, the formula just sinks in. While the price is high, it is worth every penny. I look forward to trying other colors.
