Guerlain is a French perfume, cosmetics and skincare house. It was founded in 1828, when Pierre-François Pascal Guerlain opened his perfume store at 42, rue de Rivoli in Paris.* The first flagship store opened in 1840. The business was handed down generation to generation, until it was purchased by LVMH in 1994. The products are available online and at retail makeup and department stores worldwide. *Source: Wikipedia

Fragrances -Guerlain -Chypre Fatal [DISCONTINUED]

on 5/26/2018 4:25:00 AM

Wow....just wow! This is a beautifully stunning fragrance that probably doesn't work for everyone. I hate anything too sweet, but this perfection in a bottle!! Subtly sweet and velvety smooth. Feminine and fierce all at the same time. A little definitely goes a long way. One spray is plenty. My guess is that everyone smelling peach mistook this fine fragrance for some cheap toilet water you bathe in. Forget those naysayers and give it a try. I am super picky about fragrance and this is top shelf! Also not discontinued....

Mascara -Guerlain -Guerlain Cils d'Enfer Maxi Lash Mascara

on 5/24/2018 9:55:00 AM

I have oily and hooded eyelid combined with sensitive watery eyes. I hope the full version is a scandal of goodness like the sample I won (non waterproof). Best eye mascara I've ever worn!

The size of the brush is ideal for those with small eyes, little eyelid space (plump eyelid) and short lashes. It is super black. It elongated and volumized my eyelashes, while drying fast after application so it didn't stick when I blinked.

It did not get clump, does not contain parabens/talc so it did not give me allergy, and even resisted the summer heat of the city I live in Brazil.

I combine it with the Blacquer pencil from MarcJacobs and it's 10h without retouching, without disappearing, without flakes falling into the eyes.

It is expensive even for the USA standard. Now imagine in Brazil, where it cots three times the USA price. I am waiting the full version to arrive and I will report back if it is as good.

Lip Treatments -Guerlain -Abeille Royale Honey Smile Lift Lip & Contour Sculpting Treatment

on 5/24/2018 12:05:00 AM

This is so hard to give an honest rating to! It works like nobody's business - plumps the lips, defines them, makes them rosy (for a while) no stinging whatsoever.

It tastes unimaginably bad. Just horrid. I then (after purchasing) read the description more closely and product literature states:"has a gourmand fragrance with delicate honey flower facets done by Thierry Wasser." Who could possibly think adding fragrance to a lip product is a good idea or necessary? Even Dior lip products that taste perfumy are not nearly as extreme as this is.

I hated like everything returning it, because, like I said, it works! But, I could not take the taste. And even if I was willing to put up with it, I can't imagine kissing anyone wearing it.

Such a shame. Wonderful results negated by terrible taste. 10 stars (or lippies) for effectiveness. and 5 lippies for the amount of product, because even though it is pricey, the tube is a good size... and minus all stars/lippies it earned due to the taste.

Liquid -Guerlain -Lingerie De Peau Natural Perfection Foundation SPF 20

I'm absolutely obsessed with this foundation. Is the "perfect daily foundation" search finally over? Quite possibly!

I first tested this new/2016 version around this time last year (Spring 2017), and in hindsight, didn't give it a fair shot. I had recently started using Differin gel for occasional breakouts, so was suffering from clogs coming to the surface, smooth skin one day followed by flaky the next, and a moisturizer that was irritating my skin, - so on. I thought it was breaking me out and ditched it.

Jump forward to November 2017. My skin was pretty well adjusted to Differin, and I'd long ditched the moisturizer that was causing me problems. I decided to give this another try after seeing a MUA friend post a (gorgeous!) FOTD wearing it.
I don't try to make MAC foundations work for me anymore (breakouts), but the last time I did, NC15 and N1 were ok matches IIRC. I don't think I ever go darker than NC20, and at my palest I was probably NC10ish. I also like Shiseido's Urban Environment Tinted Moisturizer, and use Shade 1 (this is sheer coverage and forgiving). I wore Bare Minerals for some time and could use "Fair" as well as "Fairly Light" in the summer. Also, Lucy Minerals in Cream (for shade reference). I'm rambling about my coloring... Basically, I'm fair and neutral. Dark hair and eyes.

In Guerlain LDP I chose 02N. If I could ever get my hands on samples of 00N and 02C, I'd like to try them, just based off swatches I've seen online.
02N is an OK match. It's a little olive on me, but forgiving. It's a light coverage, natural foundation. It is buildable. Adding a second layer is easy peasy, and flakes/dry patches showing through aren't a concern. (This is huge. I'm the QUEEN of dry patches and flakies. I live in the NE where in the winter, we have nights that drop down to 10 below 0 F. It's hell on my skin). Speaking of - my skin is combo, prone to breakouts, SD, dehydration, and extremely sensitive (redness, hives).
I apply with a beauty blender (or similar, L'Oreal) sponge. It's possible that packing it on with a brush or fingertips would provide more coverage, I just haven't played around with those techniques. I adore the finish from the sponge.

The alcohol and fragrance (which is strong BTW) concerned me originally, but I've been wearing it daily since November 2017 and it hasn't given me any irritation issues.
It doesn't break me out (cyclops free, yay!), turn me into an orange oil slick by the end of the day, leave me looking flaky/peely, or require me to use powder to set. It doesn't need touched up mid day. It's quick and easy for me to apply in a hurry (important to me as a busy mom that's not a morning person).

The downsides... first, the price of course. But this isn't a huge shocker for me - it's Guerlain after all. The price ($63 for 1oz - ouch) is what I'd expect from this brand, so I can look past it since my skin loves it.
But the packaging.... ugh. It's lovely to look at, but I have absolutely no idea how much I have left. I've used a pump daily since November, I've got to be running low, right? IDK... It's a heavy duty glass bottle - shaking it shows me nothing. I thought to myself, "I'll just screw off the pump and look inside to see how much is left." No. That didn't work. Then I wondered, maybe I'm weak? I'll grab the hubby's pliers and screw it off that way. No. Now my pump just jiggles and annoys me. It does not come off or open in any way humanly possible.
I was reading reviews here for one of Guerlain's primers the other day and the gal said something like, "I'll just break the pump off when I get to the end of the bottle to get every last drop out". Good luck with that girlfriend! I've been trying... So aside from busting it off the sidewalk and smearing my face on the ground when it quits pumping, how I'll get every last drop out of my $63 bottle of foundation is beyond me.
On the other hand, I guess I respect that it's tamper proof. I don't have to worry that someone poured out my Lingerie De Peau and refilled it with Covergirl or something crazy. I think I'll Google this and see if anyone has come up with a solution and report back!

Aside from my rant about the packaging lol, (TL;DR) I do love this for my combo, sensitive skin, and do plan to repurchase.

Highlighters -Guerlain -Les Meteorites balls powder

on 5/14/2018 6:30:00 AM

I think the people negatively reviewing these were expecting too much. What would you expect, it's a pretty smelling powder in the form of colored spheres in pretty packaging, not a miracle that will turn you into Brigitte Bardot. But it's just a POWDER. How much can a powder do? Is it frivolous? Yes! But so what? Pretty much all makeup is frivolous. I like feeling glamorous when I'm doing my makeup and these are PERFECT for that.
Personally I love them, they perform great and look lovely on bare skin and the psychological "I'm so fancy, you already knooow" effect is very real. I like using them to take the edge off my "dewy skin" looks and keep it from looking greasy but still light reflective and luminous. I used just concealer for under my eyes, Nuxe Or oil on my face and the Meteorites and I'm telling you, my skin has NEVER looked prettier! Even if it's not a setting powder, I love using this under my eyes on top of my concealer, now that I'm 26 I am starting to have some very fine lines there and normal powder ( I have the La Prairie one) doesn't look all that great but this is so light and fine that it doesn't emphasize any lines and dryness at all. The scent reminds me of Kenzo Flower. I will repurchase until I die or as long as I can afford them (knock on wood).
