The ultimate clean & fresh fragrance -- marketed to men, but it's unisex. Not too far removed from Amazing Grace, to my nose, only even more amazing -- more fresh-airy, more dispersed. Also in the same category as Laila by Geir Ness (a Norwegian hypoallergenic fresh fragrance), but Laila's florals tend a bit sharp, to my nose, and Gendarme stays smooth as glass -- not being as floral as the other two.A hypoallergenic cologne developed by a man with allergies, Gendarme makes me think of the air in the Swiss Alps -- it almost makes me want to yodel. Purity, freshness, a slight sweetness -- and also a good dose of clean-muskiness -- so that there is **fortunately** no sharpness whatsoever (thank goodness). I'm normally not a fan of fresh scents, because they tend to also be sharp, but Gendarme's clean musks keep that from happening.Launched in 1983, here are the notes, per their website:"Containing lemon and lime, bergamot, lavender, and just a hint of jasmine and lilac, there is nothing on the market like it."Like air-conditioning in a bottle, and I'm wearing it now on this oppressively hot, muggy, sultry day -- and it's extremely uplifting! It's cooling, refreshing, exhilarating, and it's helping my mood considerably. Some people get depressed in the winter -- but I'm the opposite -- I get depressed in summer's never-ending sunshine & oppressive heat. However, it's not just good in *hot* weather -- About 10 years ago, I was hooked on Gendarme in cold Dec-January weather. It was extremely cold out, and Gendarme just seemed to match the fresh air. I simply couldn't get enough of Gendarme that winter -- wore it day after day. The winter weather was cool and clean, and so was my Gendarme cologne -- it just seemed to fit.The juice is clear, and the bottle is clear -- which matches the clarity of the scent itself. This comes only in Eau de Cologne and it's a quality product -- plenty strong enough, since it sort of blooms on the skin and diffuses through the air -- in fact, it borders on being too strong if I spray too liberally -- and I can smell it on myself for many hours.

Fresh and clean does but not last long at all.

I have worn the original Gendarme since it first came out around 1990. I suspect that Philosophy copied this scent when they later came out with Pure Grace. This scent is great on men and women both.

Just dug this out of my stash looking for my winter scents. To me this is TM Angel but it doesn't make me sick to my stomach or give me a raging headache so YAY for that. Sweet, strong, warm and lovely. The perfect cold-weather scent. I've seen some comments about it smelling masculine. Huh? I don't know of any man who would wear this that's for sure. No, it doesn't smell like a bridal bouquet. If that makes it "masculine" then so be it. You can't buy this at Sephora anymore but if you google it there are a few more obscure sites selling it.

Ok, again my main gripe with any of these is the leaky packaging. As for the fragrance...I didn't care much for this one. It had a very harsh powdery smell upon spraying it, and it didn't seem to fade any. Very heavy smelling.
