Hair Styling Tools -ghd -Ceramic Vented Radial Brush

on 11/5/2018 1:00:00 AM

Great brush to look at comes in a beautiful packaging.
I have no luck with vented brushes, especially those that have a barrel that heats up quickly with a blow dryer. The GHD vented brush is one of those.
I hate how hard and scratchy the bristles are, I hate how fast it heats up.
I have a significant amount of fine breakage prone porous hair. This brush damages them badly.
On top of that, the barrel cracked up open after a couple of years of far from regular use.
I love GHD paddle brush and a wide tooth comb, but the round one is not good.

Hair Styling Tools -ghd -Original IV Styler Collection (all sizes) (aka 'Classic Styler')

For reference I have naturally frizzy, very thick wavy hair.
Original GHD has one heat setting, at 365°F with ceramic plates.
This straightener was a birthday gift given to me about a year ago and I have been using it daily since, but have not been impressed with it much at all. The best part about it for me is how quickly it heats up. It makes it very convenient to use on the go.

My main issue with it is that my hair does not stay straight or even get sleek straight with this flat iron. I find that after an hour-ish, my hair tends to catch a bit of a wave and get "poofy" as the day goes by.
At first I thought it was just weather conditions or maybe a bad combination of hair products I was using that didn't allow my hair to become/stay straight but after having used my best friend's straightener (hers is titanium plate with multiple heat settings, max of 450°F) I realized it was just the GHD that didn't work well for my thick wavy hair.
I have since then purchased a titanium straightener with higher heat settings and have fallen in love with rocking straight hair again.

If you have finer, easy to straighten hair then I believe the GHD would be a good investment for you. For other people with more stubborn, frizzy thick hair I recommend you look into titanium straighteners.

Hair Styling Tools -ghd -Paddle Brush

The one review here got me shock! Only one review for this amazing brush? I'm speechless! But enough drama, it's not hard to guess I love this brush. It's my HG brush ever! I've been using it over 7 years. My mother passed it to me since she thought another brush would fit her hair better. Well, lucky me. Without her gift, I wouldn't know about this brush. But first, let's talk about this: My GHD paddle brush lasts a very, very long time without any damage to this day. Remember, I have this for over 7 years and my mom used this brush before I did (Don't worry, I cleaned it before I used it the first time). I still get silky, smooth hair when I use this brush. It helps me to shorten blow drying my hair and straightens them a tiny bit while I'm at it. Plus it's such a good help while straightening. My hair gets sleek faster and it looks smoother than without using this paddle brush. Call me crazy now, but I bought this brush from my own money now. It is that good that I need a backup, just in case my recent brush gets lost or broken (I hope not). My hair tends to be frizzy, a bit thick, a bit wavy and has ends that are a bit dry. I'm glad this brush helps my hair looking healthy and untangled. Worth the money. Definitely.

Very heavy, dries my hair fast, but it doesn’t make it shiny like my T3 blow dryer.

Hair Styling Tools -ghd -GHD Curve Classic Curl Tong

I have to be honest, when I first used these I didn’t really like them, I didn’t feel that it produced the curl that I wanted but it’s the type of tong that you may need to use a couple of times before you ‘get it.’

Although I can tong my hair fairly quickly with these tongs (whole head can be done in 20 minutes, (listen that is fast for me!)) I do need to ensure that my hair is properly prepped first before even thinking about it. I would suggest that you buy the accompany Curl Hold Spray which really helps to keep the curl in. I also spray each section with hairspray, Living Proof Flex Hold is great for this. I curl and clip each curl into place and let it set for a while; you may not need to do this but I prefer to, to ensure I get a good curl.

Once I gently brush through I get beautiful waves, gorgeous body and shine and hair feels very touchable; and the style lasts ALL day. I always get a lot of compliments when I use these tongs.

I can’t give it 5 stars because I can’t just pick it up and expect my hair to be done in 10 minutes, I’ve got to allow a bit of time to get the style I want. It’s worth it though because I can’t achieve this type of curl/wave with any other tong or curling product.

The tong is beautifully packaged, it feels like a product of exceptional high quality, but I would expect so at £120! It would make a wonderful gift for someone special.
