Fragrances -Estee Lauder -Beautiful Belle

on 8/21/2018 10:58:00 PM

From Estée Lauder’s page: Romantic, carefree and irreverent.
The Thrill: Lychee, Rose Petals, Mimosa
The Romance: Orange Flower, Gardenia, Tuberose
The Promise: Orris Root, Blush Suede Accord, Marzipan Musk, Ambrox

I tried a spray from the bottle at the counter, a beautiful white bottle white a strange glass orb with gold lashings for a lid. At first sniff, this was new, but heaven. It leans heavily on it’s “parent,” Beautiful, of course, but I swear I smelled Beautiful Sheer and Beyond Paradise, too. Very light, polite, fizzy, cool and warm at the same time, like when you’re just back into the air conditioning but you’re still warm. It was such a glorious radiance of flowers with fruit for succulence. I almost bought it on the spot, but as I planned to look at all the new stuff in the makeup department I held off.

And I am glad I did. This is dreck. It settled down to a noxious mall fog, the kind of smell that emanates from the fragrance department when someone has just been spraying randomly and heavily. There’s no message to it, just utter capitalism. Super competently made, but it’s the same damn thing every one else is making. Lauder used to stand for real artistic vision. Artistic vision that sold, but artistic vision just the same. It wore and wore and wore and it was still there, after alcoholing it and a shower, the next morning. It survived working in the garden and it, or the accidental overspray, survived a trip through the washing machine. By that time it was just the musks and what smelled sharply of synthetic cedar and other woods.

And the name? “Beautiful Belle”? That word has negative connotations, especially now with all that’s happening politically. “Belle” doesn’t stand for anything positive to me. I’m terribly disappointed in Lauder and hope they begin to recover their vision.

Liquid -Estee Lauder -Re-Nutriv Ultimate Radiance Makeup SPF15

I have very fair and very sensitive skin. It has always been a challenge to find a foundation that fit my needs tor color, coverage, allergies, and price. I have used brands ranging from drugstore to makeuup artist driven lines to rather expensive designer brands. The playing field has gotten significantly larger with the addition of stores like Sephora and Ulta giving a showplace for smaller, up and coming lines. When I was a teenager, I was limited to Clinique and Prescrptives. One went out of business, one still has rather fuddy duddy colors, and Estee Lauder products were laden with fragrance. Well it seems like everyone is changing to meet the needs of a more sophisticated market educated by blogs and youtube videos. I came across an email ad for 20% off all Estee Laluder products purchased with that offer code online, so no testing was possible. The offering assured free shipping and returns, so I took a chance to try a $100 foundation for $80. The most expensive foundation I had ever purchased in the past was one from Ellis Faas, also with a coupon,, in the lightest shade available, and it was not particularly better than products for a quarter of the price. Estee Lauder has come a long way. This very elegantly packaged foundation is fragrance free, had an SPF15 using broad spectrum zinc oxide as the active ingredient, and had a silky, luxurious texture that applied easily. Two pumps of product applied with a foundation brush gave medium to full coverage that was radiant and flawless. My only concern was that I purchased the lightest cool shade available, Cool Bone, 1C1. The only other fair shade available was 1N1, and I was afraid that it would be too yellow. I thought my face may have appeared a tiny bit lighter than my body, but with winter back on its way, that may not be a problem. The color match was pretty darn close. I have mostly been wearing Bare MInerals Complexion Gel in Opal this summer for its chemical free SPF30 and beautiful, sheer coverage that was forgiving enough to work with my skintone, although, a shade cooler would have been a perfect match. For more formal use, I have the Bobbi Brown Skin foundations in the stick and liquid in the Ivory shade. This does seem to be a pretty perfect match to my skintone, but the formulas do not have the silkiness of this luxurious product. . So to sum up, if you have dry, mature or very sensitive skin, and can find a color match in this limited line, and can splurge on foundation - start looking for coupons and email offerings, because this is a very fine foundation!

Liquid -Estee Lauder -Double Wear Stay in Place Makeup

The best foundation around, PERIOD. Believe the hype, this foundation is pure perfection. I purchased this in the wrong color months ago...well, actually the wrong undertone (which is worse). Didn't bother with it for awhile. Finally made my way to the actual EL counter at my local mall and had them use the machine to match me. Turns-out, I'm actually warm in this foundation (shocked) and she matched me very well. I wear the color Nutmeg (6W2) and used a moisturizing primer (Fenty) and Velvet Matte in my T-zone (can't think of the brand) and applied using a brush. I'm a full coverage kind of girl and used about 3-4 drops. This is supposed to be a super matte foundation but because I moisturized well and used a moisturizing primer, my skin looks well hydrated while wearing this. Nothing drying about this foundation. The application is flawless, no texture whatsoever. The warm undertone suits my natural skin complexion so well. I did color correct using Nyx apricot colored corrector. The night before, I did both a scrub and chemical exfoliant and that made a world of difference. Can't emphasize enough the importance of a good skin care routine. Even without a pump, I am giving this a 5 in overall rating...that's just how good it is. Splurge on this high-end foundation, its worth it.

Moisturizers -Estee Lauder -Hydrationist Maximum Moisture Creme Broad Spectrum SPF 15

on 8/19/2018 10:08:00 PM

I was very excited to find this creme for its SPF protection but this creme feels too heavy on my skin (I have a oily skin and I live in a hot and humid Bay Area). It is supposed to be oil-free but instead it makes my skin look too oily. The smell of creme is pretty bad. The cucumber scent is used to mask strong chemical scent that lingers behind. Instantly upon application, I could smell strong chemicals and hated to put it on my face. Since I have spent so much money on it, I will finish it on my neck and arms but will not buy it again. I have been using Lancome's Bienfait multivital SPF30 for a while and have been pretty happy with it but when the bottle was about to be over, I wanted to try this Day Wear SPF25 because I really like Estee Lauder's revitalizing supreme . Unfortunately, Day Wear SPF has thoroughly disappointed me. Can't comment on long-term benefits of this creme because I simply can not push myself to put it on my face because of the obnoxious chemical smell and the way it feels greasy on my face.

Mascara -Estee Lauder -Sumptuous Extreme

I never could wear black mascara as it looked too harsh and made me look older. But EXTREME BLACk in Sumptuous Extreme mascara is a whole different thing. It's such a deep black that it makes your eyes "pop" and actually looks good on me. It is also extremely thicking and creates great fullness with the very first sweep on. One coating is plenty. It does tend to "racoon eye" a little bit, but no worse than other mascara's. The depth of color and fullness (great brush) are enough to make me ok with minimal racoon eye. I tried the "smudge proof" mascara and it flakes rather than smudges, which is no better.
