Mascara -Essence -I Love Extreme Crazy Volume

on 8/19/2018 8:19:00 AM

Honestly, I love everything about this mascara except the flaking! The formula works well with my lashes, it never clumps on me and it does lengthen the hair beautifully BUT I have to keep on checking the mirror to ensure that I don't have any black dots on my under eyes. It smudges a lot too. I definitely love the brush but God! The flakes are driving me crazy. I'm frustrated of how much I wanted this product to work but I'm just so done with it (and I'm still sad about it lol).

Concealers -Essence -Colour Correcting Stick - Say No to Dark Circles

on 8/18/2018 7:24:00 PM

I bought this because I just really needed a peachy corrector since the previous one I’d bought in a haul from elf had been too dark and there aren’t a lot of colour corrector selections at my drugstore (also, I wasn’t ready to spend Sephora money on a colour corrector!).
I have really stubborn undereye circles as well as that annoying demarcation line between my cheeks and my mouth (something most people of colour will understand). I find on certain days that even a good concealer isn’t enough. The Essence stick is the right shade to colour correct the discolorations while ensuring that my concealer doesn’t give me that dreaded grey tinge after a certain amount of wear time. My problem with it though, is that the formula is far too stiff and hard to blend. If I have enough time in the morning, I’ll actually rub the formula between my fingers to heat it up before applying to my face. This helps a bit but
I do wish it were way more emollient and not so drying. That being said, this was dirt cheap and does the job for the time being. I’ll probably use it up and then try out their liquid formula next time.

Mascara -Essence -All Eyes On Me - Multi-Effect Mascara

on 8/17/2018 12:04:00 PM

One of my faves. I use the waterproof version. It's definitely not dramatic, so I prefer it on bottom lashes or for simple daytime looks. Of course it would get lost on top of a smoky eye, but there are better options for dramatic looks (e.g. Lash Princess falsies effect). It separates, defines and adds a bit of length without the volume. Tips of the lashes don't look weird or clumpy when I use this. It's so natural and understated yet I got compliments when I applied it.

The tube is small and simple, so is the brush. I like that it doesn't gather much excess so you don't need to wipe off the product. Apply it carefully because if it gets on your skin it won't come off easily (you can dab concealer on top) - but it's not a big problem since the brush is small and skinny.

All in all it's my daytime look / bottom lashes workhorse. It's my second tube and I will keep buying it.

+ Pros:
+ natural
+ gives definition and doesn't clump
+ waterproof
+ handy small brush
+ affordable

- Cons:
- don't expect it to add volume or lots of length
- hard to clean up if you smudge it during application (which is not uncommon in waterproof formulas)

Highlighters -Essence -Pure Nude Highlighter

I am very happy to say that I have finally found my HG every day highlighter! This highlighter is so subtle but absolutely gorgeous! It truly leaves you with a fresh and glowing from within kind if look. I have light/medium skin with neutral undertones (NC20 in the winter NW20 in the summer) and it just looks amazing on me! For special ocassions or when I'm trying to be a little extra, I will use my becca moonstone highlighter. But for every day use if I just want a gorgeous yet subtle kind of sheen I find that this one can be used year round but especially in the summertime when my skin is prone to getting more on the oily side thus making it shinier so this baby paired with the essence all about matt! Powder is my perfect combo for the season to keep my skin looking fresh and glowing without going overboard. If your job doesnt consist of working at a beauty supply or makeup store, this highlighter is definitely appropriate for the office or workplace as it also looks amazing but not overdone in indoor lighting and outdoors in the natural light. Best of all, it doesn’t irritate the skin or cause breakouts and is under $5!!!
So in short, if you are looking for a super noticeable highlighter that’ll give you the glazed donut effect then you will be disappointed..but if you want a neutral every day highlighter without the cheap or gritty glitter bomb look or heavy holographic effects then I would definitely recommend that you give this one a go!
Essence cosmetics can be found at ulta and target! I’ve had mine for about a year now and still havent hit pan but will definitely repurchase when I'm out

Mascara -Essence -Lash and Brow Gel Mascara

on 8/16/2018 1:25:00 PM

This is my first brow gel, so I don't have anything to compare it to. My brows are full, and I always just used some brow powder prior to this. Now that I've added this gel, I feel like my brows look much cleaner without hairs out of place. I rarely need a touch up during the day, so that's not an issue for me.

I don't use this for my eyelashes since I don't get the point of that, but the one time I tried it there I didn't have any irritation :)
