Sunscreen -Dermaquest -Youth Protection Solar Moisturizer SPF 30

on 9/29/2017 3:45:00 PM

I learned about this brand because it's sold at my dermatologist's office. I first tried the SheerZinc (formerly called ZinClear), loved it, and thought I would try the Youth Protection one my SheerZinc ran out. I have very dry, sensitive, acne-prone, rosacean pale skin. The Youth Protection sunscreen is impressive because of how high the zinc content is without leaving a ghostly white cast. Zinc can dry out skin but this product is actually very moisturizing - for that reason it would not work for normal or oily skin at all. I have super-dry skin and it's too heavy even for me in the summer months. In the dead of winter, this would be better for me. Right now in the fall months I am back to the lighter-feeling SheerZinc but the Youth Protection is a perfect option if you have extremely dry sensitive skin. In a nutshell, here are the reasons to buy:
- easy to find online, reasonable price, stable easy-to-use packaging
- appropriate for sensitive dry or post-laser skin
- excellent sun protection
- no white cast
- no irritation or breakouts
- no fragrance
- non-drying

Sunscreen -Dermaquest -SheerZinc SPF 30

on 10/3/2016 4:43:00 PM

NOTE: This used to be called ZinClear.

I got this on my dermatologist's recommendation after a particularly painful IPL session - I wanted an all-physical soothing sunscreen that wouldn't sting the way my chemical ss can immediately following a treatment. I LOVE this stuff and highly recommend it for pale people with super-sensitive, reactive, rosacean, dry, acne-prone skin (like mine). I say pale because this has a very faint white cast (I have the untinted version but there is also a tinted that I haven't tried) on my NC15 skin. This comes in a tube and ideally I prefer an airtight pump, but that is really my only complaint. Note that this has a moist (NOT greasy) feel and stays moist all day. That makes it perfect if your skin leans dry but it would feel greasy if you have oily skin. I find this to be very soothing on my often irritated skin and it causes absolutely no acne or rosacea flares. It works well under makeup and doesn't look greasy. It really is a fantastic product and has become my main sunscreen I use when I will be outdoors (I was previously using Vichy Capital Soleil SoftSheer, which has a shinier finish that I don't love) and I have even been using it for everyday/office as well. I HIGHLY recommend for people who struggle to find an HG physical sunscreen.

Cleansers -Dermaquest -Daily Enzyme Cleanser

on 1/2/2014 9:05:00 PM

My skin is sensitive and prone to breakouts. I'm sure many of you can relate. Often a product that's soothing, worsens your acne/rosacea, or if the product helps a skin condition, it's drying to sensitive skin. This is a wonderful cleanser. An aesthetician introduced me to it several years ago. My skin is combination - more on the oily side. I cannot tolerate fragrances and many ingredients irritate my skin. That's never been a problem with this cleanser. My skin feels clean and refreshed after using this fragrance-free, gel cleanser. It does not foam or lather. You're supposed to emulsify it with lukewarm water before massaging it onto your skin. It removes makeup and impurities from my entire face -- including eye makeup! I use it everyday without irritation even though it contains papaya and pineapple extracts to help exfoliate the skin. According to information on the bottle: "This cleanser also prepares the skin for enhanced penetration of post-cleansing treatment products. Great for those with AHA/BHA sensitivity." After the aesthetician who introduced me to it moved away and I couldn't find it locally, I began ordering it from another aesthetician who literally lives across the country. This is one of those few, precious products that I absolutely must have.

Treatments (Face) -Dermaquest -Antioxidant Soothing Serum

Originally a girl who never followed a skincare regime before, I thought I'd get lazy with using this serum. However, I find that I can't wait to get this on. It smells nice, has a nice consistency, and I feel like it's working to improve my complexion and make it brighter.

Love the pump dispenser, it's hygienic, and 1 pump (about a pearl size) is enough for the entire face. Absorbs into skin almost immediately. Doesn't leave much of a sheen. Doesn't feel too sticky on my fingertips either. Apparently it is also suitable for use on the lips.

I've been using it for about 2 months now. I haven't had a pimple since I've started using it (I've had maybe 1 or 2 tiny pimples but I won't put it down to this serum, I usually get the large flarey red pimples or whiteheads). The lady who did my skin consult recommended this saying it should decrease the redness on my forehead (in between my eyebrows) which was due to dehydration. I've found that the redness has gone down, but only by a little bit.

Will probably not repurchase, but only on the basis that I'm looking to try a different serum from the same range (cos I'm a product hopper). Def recommend though!
