Liquid -Chanel -Perfection Lumiere Velvet

on 8/20/2018 11:20:00 AM

I bought this because the HD Forever make up I recently found and love is just a bit too heavy for summer, and I watched the "Hot and Flashy" youtube where this was the Holy Grail of All Foundations. Long story short: I love this foundation. It's relatively light and sheer for a medium-coverage foundation. It's not buildable, and my nose after the summer of beach and waves is a mess, so what I eventually did was use this for all over my face (after moisturizer), let it set, then take a large round foundation brush and pat the HD Forever foundation into my nose. THIS is the Holy Grail. I would never have done this on purpose because of the expense, but since I already had the HD Forever that was *kind of* working and had hoped to replace it with this, that means I effectively now have double of each if that makes sense. I will cry when they're both gone.

The good:

1. This is really a fantastic foundation. It's sheer with a beautiful finish, and leaves my 50 year-old skin looking like me-but-better. With the HD Forever on my nose after this, my skin and face looks like it did 15 years ago. If I add the Hourglass Ambient Bronzer and the Hourglass Ambient Blush, I don't need any other makeup except a little mascara and a touch of lipgloss

2. It goes on just as well with fingertips and with a makeup brush

3. I don't feel like I'm wearing foundation--for the first time in decades I might add. It's really cool to feel as if I'm out in public bare-faced. I guess it's like mature-skin BB creme or something.

4. Unlike others I haven't noticed any oxidizing, and it stays put and is still on at the end of the day (unlike the HD Forever or any others which I do have to re-apply)

5. Much less transfer onto my phone than other foundations

The bad:

1. It is definitely not buildable. What you initially get from the first application is what you should stick with.
Don't get me wrong--it's fantastic. Just relatively light-medium light coverage.

2. The consistency is watery. It's really hard to get used to this. For the life of me I can't use a foundation brush with it, but that's OK because it works great with fingers. However, getting it to stay on one or two fingertips is kind of impossible, and you have to apply it fast because of this wateriness thing.

3. The packaging is ridiculous. With the watery consistency, then having to turn it upside down to squeeze it out of an opaque container, I must have wasted $15 of the product in the first week trying to figure out how to get the product-dispensing correct. I still hate it. Ironically, if the HD Forever makeup that I DO need to reapply came in this packaging, I think I would love it because I could throw the little squirt bottle (it even has a lid that stays put!) in my purse. However, this lasts all day and isn't buildable, so there is really no need to re-apply, so I don't need an easy-squeeze bottle in my purse or anything. So the packaging and watery consistency just remains irritating as heck.

Bottom line: An awesome, awesome sheer foundation, but I do augment it with a little extra coverage HD Forever on my nose.

Foundations -Chanel -Le Teint Ultra Tenue Ultrawear Flawless Foundation

on 8/15/2018 2:04:00 PM

Basically, it shouldn't be this hard to apply foundation. I appreciate it for the coverage - (medium to heavy). But it DOES dry as soon as you apply it - does NOT budge - therefore, does not blend, AT ALL. I found it very frustrating and quickly returned to my Clinique Beyond Perfection (same great coverage - half the price).

Fragrances -Chanel -Chance Eau Tendre

on 8/15/2018 1:11:00 PM

Fresh, clean, and inexplicably feminine. This is a more floral take on the original Chanel Chance (which is also beautiful). The whole Chance line is “younger” smelling. Not as spicy, woodsy, or musky. Chanel Chance fragrances are fresh, lighter, crisp, clean, and classy. Each Chance has its own unique quality, and Eau Tendre is definitely the most floral and girly of the bunch.. but very sophisticatedly so. Chanel Chance Eau Tendre is not my signature scent by any means (I usually prefer deeper, darker, more complex scents), however, there is still a complexity to this fragrance that I can appreciate. This is for that woman who wants to smell clean, feminine, effortlessly sexy, and like pure class anywhere she goes. For the woman who takes care of herself, who is confident but not loud. I really appreciate the effortlessness of this, it’s stunning and will turn heads without “trying too hard”. This scent is so soft and beautiful, I can’t see anyone not liking it. It’s more than your average “clean, fresh” scent.. something about it is very memorable. The packaging is also beautiful in its simplicity, and one-of-a-kind classic Chanel. You really can’t go wrong with this one, especially if you’re looking for something inoffensive but still beautiful to wear during the daytime or around the office. Excellent staying power as well, lasts almost all day on me. A truly stunning, graceful, feminine fragrance.

Mascara -Chanel -Le Volume Revolution de Chanel

on 8/15/2018 11:17:00 AM

WARNING: This is NOT the original "Le Volume".

I was given a sample of Chanel Le Volume mascara and it was so good - one of the best mascaras I've ever had - that I thought I'd buy it. But somehow I ended up with this new version, marked 'Revolution' because of the 3D printed brush. Seriously, this is one of the most awful mascaras I've ever owned. The brush is so chunky it's like applying mascara with a space; the 3D printed design doesn't allow for the kind of separation a proper brush gives you, and as a result, you end up with tons of product in big clumps. It's messy as hell too and it goes everywhere. In addition to that, this mascara does not hold the curl, so even if you curl your lashes first, 2 minutes later they're already back to normal, weighed down by this useless gloop.

I cannot believe Chanel has put out a product like this. It cost me £28 and I would have been better off with a £5 mascara from Rimmel.

Avoid at all costs.

Powder -Chanel -Les Beiges - Healthy Glow Sheer Powder

on 8/14/2018 8:46:00 PM

Though I was skeptical and bought this on a whim when I ran out of my other pressed powder, I have to admit that on my skin, this is awesome - especially in the summer when I am using a ton of greasy sunscreen on my face.

I have dry skin, and this warms up my complexion, and reduces the greasy sunscreen look while still keeping my complexion glowy - it literally is like using some kind of photo filter in real life!

Note that my natural skin tone is about nc35, and in summer more of an nc42. I have this in shade 30 and I still find that, despite my natural tan, it makes my face more bronzed/orange looking - the colour definitely shows up on my face, and I have to take it down my neck/chest to keep things matched up. In winter I may switch to shade 25.
