Cleansers -Banila Co. -Clean it Zero

on 3/11/2018 1:46:00 AM

First off, this does what it's supposed to. It removes makeup without too much work and effortlessly melts away makeup which is a huge plus. This had a cult following for the past year+ but holy cow, did anyone read the ingredient on this thing?

I wish I did before purchasing-- I bought into marketing and made the mistake of purchasing this item and it now just sits on my makeup cabinet just collecting dust-- it's chock full of mineral oils and PEGs (one of the first ingredients listed) which not only causes irritation but is extremely toxic for our bodies.

There are products that work just as well or better than this product for even less price WITHOUT all the toxic chemicals and irritants that are in this balm. I do not recommend this balm.

Cleansers -Banila Co. -Clean It Zero Resveratrol

Full disclosure, this is the first cleansing balm I've tried. I have oily, acne-prone skin and the idea of slathering a greasy product around on my face frankly made me break out in a cold sweat. However, I am easing into the Korean 10-step skincare routine, which begins with double-cleansing. Also, this is the year (drum roll) that I WILL get serious about regularly wearing broad-spectrum sunblock on my face. I have heard so many oily girls rave about how it takes an oily product to remove excess sebum and balance the skin, blah blah blah. Figured I'd give it a shot.

The plan is to try this product and use the normal-to-oily Cerave facial cleanser as my second cleanser, since I already know that my skin can tolerate the Cerave. If I have a reaction, good or bad, I want to know which product it should be attributed to.

Had to order the Clean It balm off of amazon, so I wasn't entirely sure what to expect. Arrived in a very solid and attractive tub with a free little cosmetic spatula and holder, which was a nice surprise. I don't normally use stuff in tubs bc my nails are longer and the bacteria hiding under nails - even when you're very attentive - skeeves me out. Saw the YouTubers using these little spatulas to get product out of jars and deposit on the back of their hands which they would then apply to their faces, so that's the route I went.

This is a solid balm that quickly turns to a liquid form from just the heat of your skin. It was SOOO greasy... I imagine most balm cleansers are, so that's probably normal. I didn't enjoy it, being used to using a micellar water to remove my eye makeup. However, I will agree that the Clean It balm rinses cleanly - after removing with a damp washcloth I did not feel that I had any residue left on my face. I followed up with a quick wash with the Cerave and continued with my regular routine.

It's still early days yet, but my initial reaction is surprise. I expected this cleanser to remove my makeup, especially since I don't wear waterproof mascara, and it did. It did seem to dry out my skin and make it feel a smidge uncomfortable, though. Which is new - I don't have reactive skin that gets irritated by much. My skin is not red, but it feels just a bit sore-ish. I had to apply two different light moisturizers last night so that I didn't feel all dried out, too. On the positive side, I don't believe there are any new blemishes on my skin.

I am still on the fence about this product. I'm definitely going to have to give it more time to see how things go, and will update this rambling monologue after a bit longer. :)

Update 1/19/2018: I've become more of a fan over the past week or two. This is NOT breaking me out or making me more oily, which is so surprising to me! I feel like my skin gets so much cleaner now that I'm using this and following up with the Cerave face wash. It doesn't feel tight or stripped, just clean. (I tracked back the irritation I was experiencing to be due to using the Cosrx BHA Blackhead Power Liquid every night.) I bumped up my rating to 4 stars, but still can't give it 5 stars because it doesn't work as well as micellar water at removing non-waterproof mascara.

Cleansers -Banila Co. -Clean It Zero Purity

on 11/30/2017 8:37:00 PM

The Banila Co. Clean It Zero Purity is the first solid balm to oil cleanser makeup remover that I've used and I love it! I specifically bought this one instead of the original because I found out that it is free from artificial coloring, synthetic fragrance, alcohol, parabens and mineral oil. Although it is targeted for people with sensitive skin, I have oily and (mild, stubborn) acne-prone skin that breaks out pretty often. Luckily for me, this product DID NOT break me out whatsoever. It comes in a strong plastic jar and comes with a little scoop thing so you don't have to dip your fingers into it. A little goes a long way for this product. I bought a jar sometime in late spring and it lasted until late fall! This product is gentle yet strong enough to remove everything on your face - including those full faced makeup nights and heavy-duty mascara. The only con that I have is that I do not know how this cleanser will last if you travel with it to a very hot climate (Would it completely meltdown to oil after a few hours in heat?). Overall, I highly recommend this product.

on 6/21/2017 1:55:00 AM

Holy Grail powder for oily skin!!!!

Super finely milled translucent powder, doesn't give white cast, keeps my oily skin matte all day, what more can I ask for? I use this for baking as well and it works fo'sure! Once you powder your face, touch it and you'll think that your touching a baby's butt. HOLY GRAIL STATUS POWDER. If you like the Laura Mercier Translucent Powder or RCMA No Colour powder, give this a shot, I think it Beats them all :)

Primer/ Corrector -Banila Co. -Prime Primer Hydrating

on 12/23/2016 9:33:00 AM

This is one of the best selling primer in Korea and with k-beauty trend, I've decided to give it a try. I brought this at around HKD200 for a 30ml bottle. It comes in few different types - Hydrating, Matte, Classic. I've brought hydrating as I mainly use it under my eyes and sometime over my face to blur out my pores thought I do have combination skin.

I do love this primer and had almost finish up my first bottle. The texture is a somewhat between gel and cream. Very easy to apply and absorb to the skin really fast. Once applied, you can see and feel the skin is much more smoother.

I had used this over summer and winter without any hassle, my concealer and eye shadows had lasted much longer. I see the difference as soon as I go without it or trying out other primer samples. Secondly, no greasiness even in hot summer day.

The great thing is the bottle is in a pump dispenser so you can control how much you need. More importantly, it's much more hygienic.

Highly recommended!!!
